I don't think I'll be able to get a chance to hear these before I buy them so I gotta trust reviews / opinions - they're all pretty standard though.   And when I said IEM's, I meant I'd be using those for travel - and have some alternative, home-oriented headphones to use for guitar practice...

Interesting, but this is getting a bit derailed ;; I'd like to know if there are any cheaper alternatives to what I need to do - or more the question, do I need a good set of headphones for my uses.   Also I should mention that with my guitar playing, I'd like to use headphones at night...

In Melbourne, and ah... that's a shame rockbox doesn't work with the iPod classic. I'm not sure it's worth having these kind of headphones if I can only listen to 192kbps tracks on them, when going portable that is.
