    My main set of cans is the AiAiAi TMA-1 Studio.  I'm going to Guitar Center tomorrow, and if I can remember, I'll tell you how the DT 770's sound compared to the studios.

    The bass mod really works, and you are exact in your statement that the bass becomes less refined.  It's punchy, but super tight and on the nose.  That being said, I prefer the way they sound with two ports opened up.

    I bought mine at best buy for 190, and I'm very satisfied with what I got. They are too bassy to be accurate studio headphones, but they are great for electronica because of the snappy, punchy bass. My only problem is that the headband is coming unglued at the edges.
