I don't have any immediate upgrade plans either, although a lighter HE-400 would be welcome (400i?). Had to stretch to get the 400s at $299 late last year (my introduction to the HFM PM sound), so a jump to a full price upgrade will have to be carefully considered, as will any high-end phone. ...- BBCInc

Out of the original HE-400 pleather, current HFM velour, focus, and focus-a pads, am leaning to the focus pads after listening and comparing for a few hours this morning. Have refitted the velours and have to admit I'm not hating them. Before that I removed the pleather spacers and it seemed somehow to collapse the sound or at least remove some element of dimensionality. Could be that echo effect that was mentioned but ended up putting them back in to the now...- BBCInc
