HP2, hands down. I was fortunate enough to try out the R10, Qualia 010, HD800, PS1000, ED8, HF2 along with the HP2 at a private meet. HP2 remained my favorite cans for its neutrality and intimacy (perhaps I am just biased because the HP2 is mine :P)

My current setup: PC optical out - M902 (as DAC) - WA6SE - GS1000/HP2 I can personally vouch for the incredible synergy between GS1000 and WA6SE. If your budget is 1500 USD, the WA6SE with Princess Sophia is a no brainer.

I presume your SR200 has HP1000 drivers? I think a pair like that goes around in the neighborhoold of US$ 1000 in the FS forum; but I could be wrong. These cans don't show up very often, that's for sure.

Thanks for the clarification, WittyzTH. That's such a shame though; OBE has been making substantial contribution to this thread. I have already got a WA6SE and I will receive a Raptor in a couple of days' time; time to determine which amp is better suited for me

What myk7000 said. Instead of focusing on your amp to get improvement, I really think switching your sources (CDP, DAC and etc.) would give you better results. Just my 2 cents.

Heard and owned: 1. HP2 2. RS1 3. GS1000 I would place the PS1000 below HP2 and probably above the RS1 based on my brief session with it.

That can be expected because Dr. Peppard built the purist with HD650 as the reference headphone IIRC. What I am really surprised to know is the fact that K701 sounds great with the purist as well I stand corrected; thanks for pointing that out!

Check out the Grace Design M902; it is a very decent dac/amp/preamp unit.
