Nice. Those are pretty cheap too

TC35M2? Better codec support and is a little bigger but has most of the same flaws, although reduced; aka. still too loud and mild noise with overly sensitive gear, and too weak to power really hard-to-drive gear. Have to step up to the more expensive models with better chipsets to reduce those...

Probably measures like day old swamp @$$ but when you're buying a dac the size of a 3.5mm plug, there are bound to be compromises. Its also old and discontinued so kinda irrelevant.

@LikeHolborn Glad you found this old review helpful. The Model 2 is somewhat one-of-a-kind and I can't think of anything modern I've tried that has the same niche signature. The Astrotec Volans is probably the closest, though it's darker sounding and probably discontinued. Also somewhat pricey...

I adore these things. Easily one of my favourite iems, and I've tried/own more than any one person should.

While I don't use mine as often as I should, every time I take them out for a listen it's a good time. An underappreciated classic in the works. Thanks for a nice review!

https://headfonics.com/effect-audio-pilgrim-noir-review/ I personally wouldn't call any of them balanced, but my preference is for the Volare, then Noir, and the regular Pilgrim a distant 3rd with the Noir being the closest to balanced.

I compared the Volare and Noir over on Headfonics. No time to drop info right now (finishing break at work) sorry.

Surprised Geek Wold survived the GK3. Good for them.

@Singaravelan They've been flawless so far, except for some discolouring due to oxidization of the silver in one of the cables. I have three at this point (in addition to two of the original version) and the others have seen no discolouring. Not a big deal imo. They still get a hearty...

Might recommend changing tips to something that seals better. Light bass, screechy highs and mediocre mids all sound like a symptom of a poor seal and unlike the Starfield. If not, then bummer.
