    An updated cable was released but it requires a separate purchase and is not included with the S2 itself. I bought both and glad I did as the generic USB-C to lighting cable I had lying around here doesn't seem to work with the device.

    What are your favorite sub $1,000 DAC's?

    I'd nominate the SMSL SU-9 (balanced outputs, 32-bit/768kHz/DSD512, full MQA decoder, all the bluetooth hifi codecs, etc) which is an absolute steal at $460 from Apos. It's just under your budget at $999, but the FX Tube DAC DSD Wifi is a true giant killer.
