    ATH-W1000X Thread!

Thanks for the suggestions.   The Matrix Mini-i certainly looks interesting. The NFB-15 sounds like a good suggestion too but I might want to try something new because I had been using the NFB-2 with the C2.2 all along.   Actually I was expecting some suggestions from Japanese...

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

Hey people, I have had my W1000X (with L3000 pads) for years and sadly will have to send it in for repair soon as the connection at the cup-end is intermittent now.   In the meantime, I have relocated and left my Audio-Gd gear back in home country.   I will appreciate any recommendations for...

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread

I have a few noob questions. I want to recable some of gear (Sony MDR-CD900ST and Audio-Technica CK90ProMkII) and am not too sure where to start. So far I have done modifications to amps and changing plugs of headphones myself but this will be my first time doing a whole cable transplant. 1...

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

Quote:   Shouldn't you be writing the cheque to Kingwa instead?     The cost of the setup per se isn't that big, but the shipping... It sure isn't very light.

Quick snap with my cell phone while sitting in front of the computer. Laptop -> oyaide usb cable -> Audio-Gd v2 (?) DI  powered by cheap DC5V 1.5A producing Li-poly cell -> Audio-Gd DAC-19 Audio-Gd via coax -> Audio-Gd C-2.2 via ACSS -> Sony MDR-CD900ST (not in pic)

Audio technica AD900x, Sony MDR-CD900ST, Hifiman He-400 for Kpop, Jpop, Cpop ?

Don't know if the OP got his problem (?) solved. I listen to quite the same kinda music too and own the CD900ST and W1000X which was mentioned earlier.   CJKpop can't really be mentioned together imo. Alot of C and Kpop music aren't mastered very well and the CD900ST makes me cringe when...

Good 2.1 Stereo system for ~$150

Quote:   Do I absolutely need a receiver to output the signal to the speakers? I have a DAC with a spare set of RCA output (which I assume are line level) and want to make use of these outputs to power a speaker for each channel. Are there any passive bookshelf speakers that would work...

The ATH-CKM50. The CKM family impressions..(First look at the NEW CKM500)..Pg 86

Not exactly related, but just reporting: I've had my CK90ProMk2 for a few weeks now and am never going back to the CKM99 again.    Heck, they were slightly cheaper than the CKM99s even.

Like Metal, but don't like the cookie monster death vocals? ...Have you listened to Opeth?

Everyone I know who listens to metal knows Opeth. I can't think of a more "neutral" metal band.   Anyways, now that you like the growls... Check out Arch Enemy.

Anyways, my 2 cents for your situation is to just look for a pair of easy to drive IEMs.

The ATH-CKM50. The CKM family impressions..(First look at the NEW CKM500)..Pg 86

Quote: Strange. I actally find the CKM99 rather neutral. Not sibilant at all and never lacking in bass. However, it does seem like there's very little headroom.   I listen to it with my Iriver S100 when I walk to dinner (before continuing with work again...) and have my W1000X and...
