I have the Q cables for my LCDXs and really like them.  They're super light and a real step up in design and comfort from the stock cables.  The sound is every bit as good if not better than the stock. I'd recommend them for sure.

I would suggest checking out any of the Chesky test CDs as many of them have a broad range of music that tests specific elements of critical listening (i.e. base, holographic, resolution, transperancy). I have found these useful in the past when evaluating different headphones, amps, etc.
