the battery is soldered to the board again, no connectors like in Sony's wireless headphones. So a user might be able to replace the battery, but they will need to be able to solder.

Curious where are you seeing the ZX707 in Canada? I don't see it on their website. I am guessing the high gain might be locked by software and not hardware, so perhaps there might be a way to unlock it.
