it'd be noise from the motherboard, etc.

i bought an optical modi and had problems with it.  i had to send it back in twice for repairs but Schiit definitely took care of me and i <3 them for it.  I swapped it out for a USB modi and am very happy.  I can't hear a discernable hiss but you may have better ears for it than me :) my schiit...

the optical one just came out :) i ordered it.  I think i may have #8! but i suck at understanding serial numbers so ii am not sure   i am listening to optimodi -> vali -> Q701's as we speak

my opti modi arrived and I know this might be premature but ... I think it was the missing rung on my ladder to Nirvana.   Schiit forever! :)

Necro... I have a sound blaster z connected to a schiit vali but was considering ordering one of these from amazon. Is it worthwhile? Should I be looking for a specific revision?

would a Aune T1 match up as a DAC w/ my Vali?  it has line in and USB so i could still take advantage of the 3d effects from the sound blaster... any advice is appreciated thank you :)

i thought the 681's were ok, SQ wise but they felt like trash in my hand.  IMO they are "that" bad.  :( unfortunately.

I have a Schiit Vali and a pair of Q701's, i am using an e7 and a sound blaster Z currently but I am wondering if there would be much value in upgrading to a Modi (or similar DAC)   Thank you in advance

i watch movies and game as well   i don't mind having 2 devices, 1 for movies/games and 1 for pure music   is the e7 to modi a big upgrade as a DAC alone?
