Ear SPL, ear "fights" back to sound
Is it a thing to experience the sound coming out of headphones as sharp on the level of causing an ear "hum" or "ear noise"? Often I feel like the volume isn't even that high and my ears still start "fighting back" to the sound, so to speak, in the form of a "hum" that drowns out some of the...- Arenithian

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Do you mean to say that you converted your mp3 files into FLAC? If that is the case, there won't be any change in quality - the files would be exactly as before but with a larger filesize. You will need to obtain the files in a lossless format originally if you want the lossless quality.- Arenithian

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Hmm, I'll forget the Magni then. So, what would be something affordable for the X1? The Asgard, perhaps? It's exclusively mentioned that it's excellent for low impedance headphones.- Arenithian

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I inquired in the Schiit Magni/Modi thread about the suitability of the X1/Magni combo and was told that the Magni might be too powerful an amp for the Fidelios. Still, the Magni does have a very low output impedance (stated as less than 0.1 Ohms) so wouldn't that kind of balance out the...- Arenithian

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
Quote: Yeah, as there's sometimes talk about "synergy" between specific headphones and amps. Both the Magni and X1 are new, seemingly popular purchases so maybe someone has both.- Arenithian

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
Would the Magni be a suitable amp for the Philips Fidelio X1, which has the following technical specifications: -Impedance: 30Ω -Sensitivity: 100dB/mW -Maximum Power Input: 500mW -THD: <0.1% If the specs alone can't be used to fully determine how good a match they are, has anyone...- Arenithian

Quote: If this is when playing solely 16-bit audio over a 24-bit channel, then would there be some loss when playing actual 24-bit files?- Arenithian

Best headphones with some added bass under for under $600?
If the fresh Philips Fidelio X1 counts as a headphone with added bass, that's my recommendation. Warm, pleasant sound signature, check. Great low end capability, check. (Great price, check.) Plus it's a headphone that is just absolutely beautiful to gaze upon.- Arenithian

Hmm, I'd think an amplifier wouldn't be frequency sensitive... Probably. There haven't been any mentions. A DAC might be since it has a lot more to do with different kinds of frequencies.- Arenithian

So, simply, something like THIS is what I should use to power the Magni in a 230V country? And the Magni will ship with its qualified wall-wart regardless of which country it is shipped to, correct...- Arenithian

Is there a well confirmed consensus on what would be a 230V converter for the Magni, that can be shipped to any part of the EU? There's pretty much nothing available with the correct 16V 500mA output.- Arenithian
