These usually work to deter thieves against stealing a laptop as the damaged merchandise is work significantly less to them.  however, it doesn't do any good to someone who is interested in the contents of the laptop as it does nothing there (but you probably already know that).

I would stay with flac if your player can handle it.   If not, then maybe aac just because of the traction that aac seems to have in the marketplace

I think you mean outputs rather than inputs - but I would say that your best bet is rca to xlr, and then rca to 1/4".  Although there are plenty of 1/8 to 1/4" cables, I would fatham a guess to say that I think you would be better with the other two options. 

The worse part is as a new user, people think your either a hijacked account or a spammer of some sort as well. ..

Just got it for my mac.  I'm a bit concerned over the reports that it won't let you play on your laptop if you travel though. .   has anyone else had/heard these reports that if you play with various IP's they will lock you out ?
