Can a very short exposure to loud music coming from earphones cause permanent damage?
By the way, does your phone also have that annoying white noise in the background whenever the phone makes a sound (playing music, pressing a button, etc.)? It's really annoying, it makes any headphone, no matter how good it is, sound like mediocre crap. Using a portable DAC solves this problem...- An00bis

Can a very short exposure to loud music coming from earphones cause permanent damage?
Nope, I'm an Android user since 2013 and I'm not that big of a noob. Until now I just didn't think about adjusting the volume while I had my earphones on. I'm using a Moto G and even though it's not a Nexus it has the stock Android ROM on it. The only difference between this and a Nexus is that...- An00bis

Can a very short exposure to loud music coming from earphones cause permanent damage?
I read that you need to listen 8 hours to 85dB before damage is done but what does that really mean? Is it like running rapidly on hot coal or moving your hand fast through fire without feeling anything, or does sound energy work in a very different way compared to heat and loud music causes...- An00bis

Headphones sensitivity, impedance, required V/I/P, amplifier gain
edit: I removed what I said in this post, something was wrong with my devices. I'll write the formula again so this post does more than just take up space. I hope I got this right: A - (B + 20*log10(2/C) ) = D A=target dB B=any number of decibels C=voltage that your headphones need for B...- An00bis

Headphones sensitivity, impedance, required V/I/P, amplifier gain
Thanks for your help, but there's no need to be so passive aggressive. I didn't insult you and nobody forced you to write a reply to me.- An00bis

Headphones sensitivity, impedance, required V/I/P, amplifier gain
I've googled this for hours. What's the formula for the maximum SPL output of headphones? "Target SPL is 110 dB SPL." okay, but isn't that a bit high? the internet tells me that after 75-80dB permanent hearing damage can occur, isn't 110dB a very dangerous sound level? "The source is...- An00bis

Can sound quality worsen if you accidentally pull the headphone cables but without detaching them?
It happens to me lots of time, the cable is long and sometimes it gets caught on something, like a chair, and when I try to put the headphones on the cable gets pulled a bit, is this damaging to the sound? I think I have OCD so I always obsess over this, please respond. I have the headphones...- An00bis

How to isolate EM interference from the computer that makes electrical noises in the headphones?
I just got a fast gpu a year months ago, an AMD HD7850 and it makes a lot of noise, lots of electrical chirping in the headphones and sometimes it has coil whine even in the real world. It could also be my PSU which is getting older, and the fact that I bought another HDD. To be honest every...- An00bis

Can someone help me calculate the decibels my headphones produce based on my sound chip and headphones?
So I did a bit of research. Got myself an app for my phone that measures dBs. Fortunately, I have a very good microphone in my phone, probably the best in the smartphone market. It measures even sounds louder than 98dBs which I heard is very good for a microphone like this. I tested it and the...- An00bis

Can someone help me calculate the decibels my headphones produce based on my sound chip and headphones?
Thanks for your help! but are you sure you calculated it right? 93 decibles seems extremely loud, this has really got me worrying a lot, damn, I don't want hearing damage, maybe you picked the wrong voltage from that .pdf I posted in the first poist? is it really that serious? on my past...- An00bis

Can someone help me calculate the decibels my headphones produce based on my sound chip and headphones?
I'm running windows 7 64bits, and the volume is at 30/100 Sound chip on the motherboard: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/datasheets/ALC889_DataSheet_1.0.pdf I've looked everywhere and can't find the voltage output for analog, I've found tons of different values like: // Full-Scale...- An00bis

Is there any newer headphone that is an upgrade to my HD429, within the same price range? are the Sony MDR-V55 a good choice?
Thanks for your help and everything! I think this thread is done now. In case anyone googled this question and got to this thread and can't decide what headphones to buy around 50-100$, please give the Creative Aurvana Live a try, it's a great pair of headphones, a lot better than my old...- An00bis
