    FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |

1 - we pay $699 for X7 (or enough of us) --> FiiO makes good profit 2 - we do not pay $699 for X7 (or not enough of us) --> FiiO makes loss So, this is not exactly a rhetoric, but rather a simple free market reality.

Why is that - simply because 'seller' (supply) is only one part of the equation. The other and equally important is the 'buyer' part of it (demand). According to this nice, simple and logical scheme of things, FiiO is 'seller' (they work in 'supply' part of the chain) - and we are 'buyers' (we...

I would not call 'paying full price for the desired product' any sort of 'entitlement', it is simply not true. Likewise, FiiO guys are damn lucky to have us as their customers, it kind of works both ways. Ditto profits.

You raise very good and reasonable questions. Perhaps, some of the answers may be found in this article: 10 technologies made obsolete by Android smartphones http://www.androidauthority.com/10-technologies-obsolete-android-smartphones-405956 Smartphones are like the Swiss Army knife of the...

I guess X7 should work with any wireless hard drive, not only Samsung, using either some Android file management app which supports Samba (SMB), or the Android app bundled with the drive (for Samsung Wireless drive, there's Android app imaginatively called Samsung Wireless, from Seagate...

Yes, one can always erase some old music in DAP in order to upload some new music... yes, one can always carry some more microSD cards... but, at some point some DAP users, who are forced to go through those related repetitive processes regularly (and not necessarily a small and insignificant...

I am very curious about what audiophiles in China say about FiiO X7, surely there must be some threads in local Chinese forums, dedicated to X7, similar to this one in English? Earlier in this thread I came across claims like 'X7 is for Chinese market', so logically the major target audience...

FYI: Google's Project Ara http://www.projectara.com | http://www.projectara.com/faq | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Ara Project Ara is the codename for an initiative by Google that aims to develop an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones. Yes, James talked about it, and yes you repeated it more than I can remember - so what? Yes, China has the most people, and FiiO is based in China, and FiiO is interested in Chinese DAP market - but all that does not necessarily automatically provide the right answer to your last question...

    FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |

You keep talking that X7 is designed/intended mostly for the Chinese DAP market, without actually providing any reason for such an extravagant move, albeit hypothetical. Then perhaps you can explain, why anyone can routinely see many FiiO products (including X1, X3 and X5) all over, available...

@olddude In my last posts, I talk more about convergence (which is, IMHO, a very interesting topic, closely related to X7), and less about mSATA (and even that more about m.2 SATA NGFF), but for some reason you only see and react to that magical word 'mSATA'. Again - I am not jumping on you...

    FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |

I am not hinting - for that, I have no inside information from FiiO, to begin with. 'The discussion about mSATA has been put to rest' - apparently I missed something, 'put to rest' by whom, and why? (also, mSATA is on the way out, and m.2 SATA (NGFF) is on the way in, there are some...

'FiiO is very clear about the specs' - sure. 'FiiO is entirely open and truthful and clairvoyant about the final specs' - I hope not, after all this is market and very serious competition, to put it mildly. Productive or not to continue the discussion - not reason to get nervous, we are just...
