Has anyone used cryogenics on their amp?
How exactly is this done? You put it in the freezer?- akg_man701

good home amp ($300 - $500) that'll pair well w/ K701s and K501s

K701 and the upcoming StefanArt cables - and you?
No, not for $300 +. I don't think I'd spend much more than $100 on a cable if I decided to do it.- akg_man701

Should I buy the AKG 701's??
They work great for rock IMO, but I like the neutral analytical sound. I don't like the bass heavy sound of "rock" cans. The K701 has a very clean bass, but it's not . It also gets better after burn-in. I also use a little EQ in Winamp and that's the best sound I've found with them.- akg_man701

Just got my bithead today
I once owned a Bithead as well, and I don't think I ever really noticed the crossfeed much. As has already been suggested, use a heavily panned recording to test it (I used Simon & Garfunkel's Wednesday Morning, 3A.M. The two voices on that whole album are panned far left and right. You should...- akg_man701

Is there a portable amp that can drive AKG K701?
I had a Bithead, but I could tell that it was doing all it could to drive the volume but probably wasn't supplying enough juice to get the job done. I switched to a Headroom Micro with desktop module and that sounds great with my Micro DAC. It also has much lower noise than the Bithead.- akg_man701

Analog sound through digital output?!?
If a person can't hear jitter, then s/he probably can't hear any difference among digital cables. Most of the differences I've seen discussed centered around jitter.- akg_man701

Analog sound through digital output?!?
That may be. The digital signal sounds great though...just as good as optical. I wonder how that could happen?- akg_man701

Analog sound through digital output?!?
I mistakenly plugged my coaxial output from my computer into the input of my Micro Amp. It was very noisy and crackly, but underneath that I could hear faintly what was clearly the music I was playing! If it's truly digital, how in the world could I hear it? Does this mean I have a DAC in my head???- akg_man701

Total Bithead Question
It's possible I don't understand what kind of USB soundcards you guys are talking about. I have an M-Audio Transit, and it's smaller than the Bithead. It also has line in and optical in/out. I would say it's just as portable as the Bithead if not more portable. At the same time, I have a...- akg_man701
