I have and auteur, Eikon, and Aeolus. The tuba pairs super well with all of these. To be honest, I don’t think I have ever particularly disliked the tuba with any of my headphones. The auteur is my latest of the Zmf cans and even though I like the tuba with it, I find myself enjoying the echo...

The stock tubes do well enough but some nos tubes are definitely a worthwhile investment. I started with some soviet tubes that are pretty decent for their price, then some rca 7189’s. I want to try the ei as well.

It is definitely a great match. I have it paired with the bifrost 2 and it’s my favorite amp for my Aeolus easily. I swap in between this and the echo with the eikons that I just got in a few weeks ago.

when I ordered mine back in may or April last year, it took less than a week to come in. I think it was closer to about 3 days. He ships them out super fast. I ordered mine at like 1 am and I had a shipping notification by the time I woke up basically lol. Damn late night drunk orders lol.

Yeah the tuba is transformer coupled I believe. Thats why it plays so well with low impedance as well.

Nice. I will give those a try for sure. I need to decide on some tubes I want to roll into my echo as well. Just the drivers though. I won’t mess with the power tubes just yet.

Also, I think that they both work pretty well from low to high impedance headphones. The echo can be more picky about different planars you plug into it though. Hifiman 4xx sounded fine off of it but my aeons sounded horrendous. I would say that the tuba is a safer bet if you want anything to...

Yes I wrote up a quick comparison on another site a few weeks ago so I’ll paste it here. “They seem to be pretty equal as far as the soundstage and imaging goes. With stock tubes, I would say that the echo overall performs better in my opinion but when you throw some better tubes into the tuba...

My favorite has been the rca 7189. I also have a feliks echo coming as my second tube amp at almost exactly the same price as this so it’s going to be an interesting comparison.

Yeah the tubes brightness is going to vary considerably, nothing to do with the amp itself or quality/performance of the tubes. Also, agreed that the reason why you are getting the lower volume compared to others is probably from the dac rather than the amp. The gain can be substantially...

Nice! I have the aeons 2 opens and I like them. I’ve tried them on the tuba which stock tube but I couldn’t get my h power out of them. Sounds good though. I’ll try them again when I get my rca 7189 tubes

A guy recommended these to me. Supposed to have pretty good low and and very similar to old sovteks. Could be worth a shot for something cheaper. He said they last longer being built to military spec too. I have these and a pair of rcas coming this week...

Sweet. Yeah I don’t have any issue with the woodworking. I do plenty of that. I just didn’t think to screw it on through the vents. From the pictures they initially Looked like they were angled or slanted vents. But I looked again after him said and now it makes more sense. I just need to get me...
