I don't think this really answers the question. I mean just because Terratec makes some professional soundcards, dosen't make the XFire better. The XFire is also a "mass market soundcard", just like the SB Live, or the SonicFury. So the question still remains: is it really better? That can only...- adam

Mumrik: thanks Audio&Me: The problem is I have a pretty tight budget, and those 24 bit soundcards you wrote about don't fit in it. Perhaps the Terratec DMX XFire 1024, but it's still more expensive than the Santa Cruz/SonicFury. The question is, will I really here an improvement, if I change...- adam

Any new info on the HD497? Oh and Gluegun: those Philips headphones you recommended, are they open? 'Cause from my little knowledge on headphones, open gives a better sound, no? The Beyer DT250-80 is closed as far as I know.- adam
