7. All Staxes require a stellar source. If you don't have, or plan on getting a great source (read >$1000), then don't bother. You will be frustrated with the headphones and/or amp and you would be pointing fingers in the wrong direction.

I see this was written in 2005. I wonder how much better DACs have gotten in the past 12 years, because spending that much today is totally unnecessary. My Stax rig sounds great just out of my LG V10, and even better with something like the Mojo
