I just got an OTL tube headphone amp and am thrilled with the sound using my favorite cans.

I use this:

Android Tablet - Tidal HIFI - Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as DAC with volume set to output 2V - solid silver cable interconnects - MG Head MK3 OTL with Tung Sol 12AX7 re-issue and EH EL84's - Beyerdynamic DT-770 600ohm

It's good, but I want to try some Gold Lion EL84's, and a few other things...

You would be safer soldering the tubes in place and being happy with what you hear is great. But then, who am I? The same guy that knows that it can't get any better, and still keeps tweaking.
