iFi Audio iOne official thread - There can be only one!

It does power on and the lights switch color between inputs. I'll test it with Bluetooth and optical.

So, looks like I needed the windows 10 creators update to get it to work through usb. Ifi's usb driver doesn't seem to support the ione from what I could tell. It works great now, but perhaps this should be noted somewhere (unless I missed something) for future purchasers that it requires native usb audio support and for windows that means the latest version of 10 only.

I was having major issues with connecting my iOne to my Desktop before the Creator's Update. I tried 3 different cables, 8 different USB ports. Trust me i did waste a lot of time over it. I could never get it to work and it was being used on my laptop. After the update it has been working flawlessly on the Desktop and i must say i am liking it more and more each day. As it has been rightly pointed out the SQ is not warm at all, more so for me as i have a Cambridge Audio Amp which is known to be bright.

(Power plug-note this one for Japan, others will most likely be localized)

One word. Stunning.

I finally had time to hook up the
ifi nano iOne to my semi ok stop gap home system (old fantastic system died).

The iOne really makes it sing.

I plan to buy a new home system this week as the iOne has inspired me to finally get it back together.

Some unboxing shots of the v2

The bluetooth reach has Really improved!

Nano iOne
Extended Range – 360° and longer reach

ione360.png

The home hub DAC

The iOne is the DAC for the modern home. It combines many different digital audio devices and input options in ONE complete unit. With Bluetooth, S/PDIF or USB inputs, it upgrades the listening experience with smartphones, tablets, computers, TVs, gaming consoles, media streamers and more.

New extended range version

We always listen to customer feedback. In this instance some customers remarked they would like better Bluetooth reception.

So we took this on board. The new ‘Extended Range’ iOne incorporates these comments and supersedes the original. It is visibly different - the front and end plates are ‘snow white’ with opaque side windows.

The iOne ER can be placed in any orientation as it now has a 360° Bluetooth signal. The operational range has been extended to over 10m ‘line of sight.’

In addition, the new iOne will include a 5v USB power supply so that customers can use it straight from the box along with a ‘shorty’ USB cable.

For customers of the existing iOne, if they wish to move to the ER version, there is no additional charge. Just contact your retailer and make the arrangements to have it exchanged for the ‘Extended Range’ model. It is as simple as that.

Features/Technologies
  • Bluetooth*, S/PDIF, USB input (*aptX & AAC CD-like quality)
  • Galvanically-isolated S/PDIF Output with dedicated re-clocker/line driver
  • ANC® noise suppression system for the power supply (via USB socket)
  • GMT® Femto precision clock system
  • Asyncronous USB audio system with Zero Jitter® Memory Buffer
  • Zero Jitter® Memory Buffer technology for S/PDIF & Bluetooth
  • Galvanically-isolated S/PDIF input with FET High Definition (FHD) circuitry
  • Advanced custom Bluetooth 4.0 wireless audio system
  • AAC codec allows direct Bluetooth wireless streaming from iTunes & Apple Music in native quality
  • aptX codec allows CD quality Bluetooth wireless audio streaming from suitably equipped Android devices, PCs and Mac computers
  • Advanced minimum phase (Bezier) ‘Listen’ digital filter optimised for sound quality and alternatively selectable ‘Measure’ standard FIR phase-linear digital filter
  • Direct-Coupled analogue outputs via RCA
  • 5v USB power supply included

Comment

iFi Audio’s Vincent Luke, comments, “Although the iOne is brand new, we like to be as responsive as we can to customer feedback. We looked and found we could make the iOne even more enjoyable. And so we did. We added the power supply for good measure. The price remains the same.”

The retail price of the nano iOne is US$199 (ex-tax) or Euro235/£199 (incl VAT).

Even though i had to forego the ER version, I am thoroughly enjoying the iOne connected via USB to my desktop and RCA to an amp and then to a couple of floor-standing speakers. Beautiful SQ and impressive soundstage.

We're glad to hear that!

And if one would like to know why iOne is what it is, well, here it goes...

So does this support aptx low latency? I read that it was better for video audio syncing compared to just regular aptx

iOne and all other iFi products do not support aptX low latency at this point in time.

Latency is 70mS for aptX and 32mS for aptX LL, both numbers require hardware encoding on the source side (and Qualcomm reference decoding on a device). None of these numbers should be too problematic for lip-sync.

Most computers (and pPhones) implement all aptX support in software, so these numbers may be better/worse depending on CPU speed and loading, with modern CPU's latency may be much lower.

Big thank you to iFI who facilitated exchange of original Ione to ER version. Loving it, everything I wanted so I can just shut up now and enjoy the music.

I have not followed this thread before, but I am really happy for everyone who had an iOne and can get it exchanged! Totally love this kind of service!
