Are you talking about removing the foam rubber strips from the insides of the grilles of the 555's to basically turn them into 595's?

No, i'm talking about removing the inner plastic grill of the 595s to open them up further. But I ended up removing the outer metal grill, and it did pretty much the same thing, but it's also reversible. I like the sound change, and it looks nicer too, though probably less durable.
