I used a DT-48E with a digital piano, it was detailed, fast, and except for the lowest octave tonally seemed spot on.
It was bit uncomfortable and the clamp was too strong for my daughter so I sold it. Replaced it with a PM-3 that is comfortable, great to watch a movie late night or to carry to the office (when I pair it with a Mojo). On the piano it doesn't suck but it isn't at the same level of the DT-48E in terms of detail/speed and it doesn't sound very accurate in the mids at least.
Any suggestions for a closed back, that sounds great (tonally accurate, detailed, fast) directly from the digital piano without an AMP/DAC and it is comfortable as well? I guess it will end being another monitoring headphone...
