In January I'm going to start a recording arts program(Link ) and I need a new pair of cans. For the past few weeks I've been going to stores around Vancouver listening to different pairs of cans and have narrowed my list down to a few cans and here they are in no particular order.. Beyerdynamic DT531, DT931, AKG K271. Some cans that I'm considering but havnt been able to listen to are the Beyerdynamic DT880 and 990, Sony MDR 7509, and maybe the Philips HP890. Can some one tell me how these cans compare to the ones ive already tried?

I'm looking to spend about $230usd on the cans and my setup at home will most likely be the M-Audio Audiophile 2496> Samson S-Amp(maybe something else depending on ur suggestions).

Comfort will play a pretty large part in my decision since i'll be wearing the headphones for atleast 10hours a day.

I hope that covers it

Thanks in advance
Mik

I'll look into it. Yes I'd prefer a closed can since alot of time will be spent in class/lab with about 12 other students.
