hi guys and girls. i am new to this site and wanted some advice please. i own sennheiser HD595 and enjoy them. i am looking to upgrade. basically looking for natural bass (not booming ), good clear mids and highs without any treble spikes. trialed the grado 325e and man they were too harsh in trebles with spikes on female voices. have ordered beyerdynamic amiron as i believe they have worked on the harsh trebles from previous models. i am happy to pay fromm 500 - 1500 british pounds ($600-1700) and wondered if you have any suggestion please. if i dont enjoy the beyerdynamic amiron, then i will send back. cheers

Might help to know what sources or DAC/amp you plug your headphones into?
Open or closed headphones?

grado rs1e imo
If you don't mind a closed back headphone the MR Speakers Aeon sounds like what you described you wanted. Falls nicely in the middle of your budget also. Most Grados are very bright.
Give the HD800's a go. Got a chance to listen to these and I am NOT a open back or neutral sounding fan, but they blew me away. Wasn't as impressed with the HD650's
Better have a good amp ready for the 800's though as they do not sound good on just anything.

Yeah good point. Did totally forget to say they were hooked up to an expensive McIntosh amp.
Maybe thats a suggestion in itself. Would you consider a lesser priced headphone + a good amp?

You are going to pay good amount of money. You will get the best.
Don't know that I would call them the best. You are going to pay good amount of money. You will get the best.
thanks for your advice so far. prefer open backed cans. my equipment is pretty basic. got the denon 39dab and don't use an amp. i guess this would drive 300 ohm headphones.

hi. plugged directly into denon39dab with no additional amp, so fairly basic. i read about senn's hd800s but at 300 ohm, would my hifi drive them without amp
