Anybody with experience working with the 5-pole 4.4 connector for Sony's new daps, the WM1A/Z?

There really isn't much room for error with these things, and so far I've melted the plastic insulators on two attempts.  Is there a proven method for working with these things?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

i haven't done these but i've done a few 2.5mm 4 pins

first thing is a soldering iron with the smallest tip you can get

also adjust the heat of your iron to barely melt solder

presolder the plug with just a dab of solder

presolder the wire, bend to a 90 degree angle and trim to abou a 1/16"

using a vice or 3rd hand touch the wire to the plug and touch the iron to it for a second

if it doesnt stick you can hit it again the idea is not too much to melt the plastic

alternate sides every other conductor, and there you have it

buy extras cause you're gonna screw up a few

good luck

Thanks Arty. I read somewhere that you should turn the iron up as hot as it would go and solder quickly. That didn't work for me.  I'll try your suggestion next time.
