New Head-Fier
Pros: capable of isolating every existing part of the audiostream, flat response by all means
Cons: maybe the absence of atmosphere
hi, I'm neither a technologist nor an audiologist or an english native speaker so forgive me my simplified expression on this earphones. I'm listening mostly to electronic music while using the Fiio X3 Player. The SQ is, in a manner of speaking, the full decentralization of every particle within the track. EVERY impulse can be recognized via the overwhelming focus on the treble. this is no earphone for relaxing sessions. This model reveals the pure vacuum in between the bits and bytes of the musical data. the atmosphere is sterile like the uprising space upon the stratosphere. in summary, the treble is the great equalizer of all possible emphesizing. close your eyes and listen to the 01100010100010111001010....

supplemental: Im listening now with a iBasso DX 90 by using the RockBox program. Try out the equalizer!

- use -5 dB on 10 kHz to compensate the difference to the ER-4S/P
- use -8 dB on 7,5 kHz and -5 dB on 2,5 kHz to improve the overall performance

have fun :)

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Diffuse-field accuracy
Cons: Comfort
Nothing, not even a full-sized headphone, comes close to ER-4B in terms of tonal accuracy(diffuse-field). How accurate is it? Its target response is almost same as the one from the most up-to date study on the eardrum response in a diffuse-field. Although this product is advertised for binaural recordings only, it is basically same as ER-4S with the lack of room attenuation at the high frequencies. ER-4B should be little too bright for normal recordings, but once you figure out how to utilize this with a binaural simulator, you'll see ER-4B is not in the league of headphones anymore, rather in the league of hi-fi speakers.
