Powering a multi channel Power Amp

Head-fi, I know this probably isn't the best forum for this, but does anyone have any suggestions for powering a 7.1 channel power amp? I currently working on a multi channel amp (gainclone if you must know), but I have only experience wiring a 2 channel amp with a torodial transister...

    ad8620 vs opa627 vs. opa637 vs. lm4562

Kiwi, I've used both AD8620 and the OPA627/37, and currently have the AD8620 in my EMU0404. The AD8620 is definietly my favorite of all of the above mentioned. I also swapped OPA627/37 and the AD8610 in my headamp, however i could tell little to no difference. I currently have the AD8610...

Well i had the same problem with my 0404 and my audigy 2. There was a thread somewhere on here.... waaaay back in the day that got the two to play together, however you had to install them in a specific order. However that was with XP, but i bet the problem is the same.

    PCI version of Emu 0404?

So to answer the post. 1. Never used 64bit 2. ASIO works great! 3. Never used the digital output, feeds directly into my PPA w/ D buffers. 4. Never recorded with it. 5. Best source i've ever heard. If you have a decent amp you can really take advantage of what this card can really do...

Removing Opamps In MP3 player idea

I want to hook up my mp3 player to my car stereo, however I need a line out. So my idea is to remove the opamps from the output of my Creative Jukebox and therefore making it a line-out. Will this work?

    Laptop Interference Prob. (Not RF)

Thanks guys for you input. Aside from buying an external soundcard I don't think there is too much that can be done. Do to the compact nature of laptops, interference is just part of the design i guess. Interference gets into the circuit and is then amplified. I plan on opening the laptop and...

    Which Audigy 2 for gaming

The value doesn't have a firewire Port. Other than that i think it's the same thing. I'd just get an OEM A2. Same performance as everything else. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...176363387&rd=1

    Gain question

As mono suggested MOST people use a switch to change the gain, if you want it selectable. Switching the gain is good when you want to change between high and low impedance cans. p.s. it's not that your pot idea won't work, it's that you need a quality POT and well a switch would be...

How did you mod your emu?

I think the reason not to many people are posting is because there aren't that many people who have modded a 1212m. The 0404 community is alive but the 1212 hasnt' had such a big following. Other than the usual suspects, iron dreamer and the like, it's hard to get some actual info about mods.

    av710 worthwhile mods?

Well since you are using the unamped lineout, there aren't too many easy mods you can do. You can change the output caps... but thats about it. Since it's line leven out, there isn't an opamp to change or output buffers.

0404 and Audigy in same PC?

You need to install them in a certain order and not override a certain file. But yes it can be done, with a bit of work. Edit: My current setup is exactly what you are trying to do. emu for headphones audigy for speakers. works great.
