Yes, these are very fit-for-purpose as iOS cans. I also bought the PX for noise cancellation on planes (headphones not specifically designed for iOS so much as for mobile devices in general), and I don't think the PXs succeed nearly as well wtih my iPhone.

I haven't bought the PX because you can't change the battery when it is finally dead. They'll suddenly be a very expensive albeit pretty paperweight.

Certainly buyers who purchased the P9s early on and registered them are getting the Lightning / DAC cable free.

They delivered on the promise.

It isn't free. It was part of the purchase price, promised when the P9 first came to market. I had been waiting for a good Lightning-enabled headphone to come to market as Apple was eliminating the headphone jack on iPhones, and it's the primary reason that I chose to buy when the P9 was announced.

I think the lack of a replaceable battery and no obvious path from my iPhone to deliver 24 bit lossless sound are dealbreakers. Too bad as I am otherwise lusting after these.
