Onkyo HF Player creating a playlist
I know this is a bit old, but you can absolutely create playlists much easier than that. You don't need to play a track to make playlists. When you open the app, down at the bottom there will be an option to search via Artists, Songs, Albums, and "Playlists". -Cick on "Playlists" -Click on...- captainobvious

iFi audio Pro iDSD (Official) - NEW Firmware - MQA and more.
I prefer a low noise floor in my products, so yes- measurements matter. @iFi audio - Are there plans to make the Pro iDSD in a black case version? The latest Music Direct catalog I got shows it available in both. If so, when will that be available? Thanks!- captainobvious

I'm looking for a great DAC $2500 or less. (Brooklyn? iDSD? ADI-2?) Would love some expert opinions!
Is there something specific that makes the Hugo 2 unique compared to the others? I find them ugly as well, but it's more about the sound than aesthetics. Thanks.- captainobvious

First, thank you for taking the time to read! I am looking for an excellent DAC that can meet these requirements: -Somewhat compact in size, but not a portable unit -Able to be run on DC power -Excellent sound -Robust in formats accepted -RCA line out with strong voltage I have tried to do...- captainobvious

iFi audio Pro iDSD (Official) - NEW Firmware - MQA and more.
Hi, As I have been considering the Brooklyn DAC+, ADI-2 DAC (from RME) and this Pro iDSD dac - and seeing how you have experience with at least 2 of these, can you comment on them and what you may prefer from each? I plan to use it as a dac only with VERY infrequent headphone usage. I like the...- captainobvious

Ordering multiple headphones to find the one you want...uncouth?
Thanks for your response :) You make a good point too. Since B&M stores are few(er) and far(ther) between these days, and most of them that are still rely on direct/drop shipping to reduce the needed storefront and warehouse space, we get a very thin selection to see up close- if any. Really...- captainobvious

Ordering multiple headphones to find the one you want...uncouth?
I'm in the market for a pair of headphones after not having or using any for quite a few years. There are several models in my price range that I'm interested in trying, to see which works the best for my tastes. (DT880 / HD600 / HE400 / Q701 / Mad Dogs). I visited a local hifi store this week...- captainobvious

amp for Sony NWZ-Sxxx and K340 ?
I dont currently have a portable amp and I'm more the type that would rather buy the best I can get the first time around. I've spent lots of time and money going through the upgrade process to find the components I like in my car audio setup and, while it is fun, it can be an expensive...- captainobvious

How did you turn into an Audiophile?
I was at a (now known as Tweeter) store and I heard a pair of Sonus Faber speakers and was impressed. Then I listened to some electrostatic towers a few weeks later and I was like H-O-L-Y S-H-!-T After that I started with my car audio obsession...- captainobvious

Helluva deal Sony NWZ-S618, plus what cans mate well ?
I just picked one up after checking out the latest and greatest Ipod Nano and Zune 8g. The sound quality, IMO, is better than either of the latter. Its tiny, very lightweight, supports pictures and h.264 video, has a nice FM tuner, and a very good selection of sonic enhancements/EQ. I was at...- captainobvious

I guess I'm going back to Apple also
While I agree a line out combined with a higher quality amplification circuit does make an audible difference, how does the Zune's amplified output compare to the Apple's ? I dont think that even 1% of the people who own mp3/DAP's are using external portable amplification for their units. In...- captainobvious
