k501 or hd580?
Depends on the music you prefer and the presentation you find desirable. The Senns are a more rounded headphone IMO. The 501s are better at what they do, but what they do isn't for everyone.- Bill Ward

How much do you spend on equipment compared to music?
Conservatively, probably 15 to 1, music to gear. I've been buying music for a long, long time.- Bill Ward

why are most stuff sold here domestic sales?
I've shipped from the U.S. to Head-Fi members in Canada, England, Belgium and Greece. The only problems I've encountered have been with domestic carriers in the continental U.S. I second the comments made about the importance of adequate packing, and I would add that transit times can be...- Bill Ward

Write audiophile headphones you really hate
The only headphone I've owned and actively disliked was the Grado SR125. Of the others I own, there are some that don't necessarily appeal to me but which I can appreciate because I think they succeed in meeting the manufacturer's intentions. Others, still, serve as forum benchmarks. They're...- Bill Ward

Headphones collectors or users?
I don't think I qualify as a collector, but neither am I much of a user. Most of my headphone purchases have been sparked by curiosity. (Reading Head-Fi will do that to you.) If the new acquisition pleases me more than the one I'm currently using, it takes over headphone duty. Otherwise...- Bill Ward

sound quality vs music poll
Like others, I want the best quality sound I can manage. That said, I find I'm flexible in adapting to sound quality with music I enjoy. Speakers, headphones, car audio, clock radio, elevator sound -- I've found enjoyment in all of them. It really is about listening to music "for the mere...- Bill Ward

One slip and down the hole we fall......
Sorry to hear about that, Pinkie. I echo what others have said; you learn from the experience and climb back on the wagon. As you've discovered, it's not a good idea to keep alcohol in the house when your goal is enduring sobriety. The impulse "to see" makes that too convenient. Anyway, get...- Bill Ward

POLL: Have you been scammed on Head-Fi?
Never been scammed on Head-Fi. Bought an amp that failed shortly after delivery, but I doubt that could have been anticipated. Buying used gear is always something of a gamble.- Bill Ward

K701 fans/critics?
I liked the K701s well enough to put my other headphones in storage, but I'm not sure I qualify as a fan. I use them daily, but I don't give them much thought. The AKGs don't intrude and don't distract. They just let me listen to the music, which I suppose is the idea.- Bill Ward
