Live Q&A: IE 900 with Jermo Koehnke
Hi Jermo, thanks for being here today with the Q&A session, and thanks Jude for making it happen. First of all the announcement of the IE900 is such a great surprise that hardly anyone here expected. I really love the way the metal shells are CNC-ed and all the technologies that were applied in...- tranhieu

Is there an appetite for non-discrete solid state DIY headphone amps anymore?
As much as people raved about the Objective 2, I found it the most boring headphone amp I've ever built. It just lacked authority and control. Good for a starter project to have fun, but I won't bother considering it as something serious.- tranhieu

6XX, HD650, DIY Balanced questions.
22-24awg is a good gauge for full-sized headphones. Depending on how long you sit from the amp, personally I just make a short 4-5ft cable for my HD650.- tranhieu

DIY Cable Gallery!!
I haven’t built a HD580/HD600/HD650 cable for like 8-9 years. Due to the need for a high impedance ‘phones for trial with the forthcoming OTL tube amp, I grabbed a pair of HD58X and built a balanced cable too. So far so good out of my balanced Dynalo-Dynahi.- tranhieu

STAX SRM-T2 "Staxs greatest electrostatic amp ever made"
I'm in the process of building a custom T2 from scratch. Needless to say it's the craziest build ever, lots and lots of measurements and trials. The casework itself took so long to get things in place.- tranhieu

Nanotube: the newest electrostatic amp by Kevin Gilmore!
I wonder if anyone is interested in a board set of the Circlotron “Nanotube”? I’m planning for a new build for this year. I could help with hard-to-source power caps, transformers or even enclosures.- tranhieu

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
How would you compare the Trio II vs the previous version? I personally love the original Trio with the 240 SS setup but that's pretty much it, pair it with any other player and you get horrible harshness oozing out from the IEMs. Agree with the 2k sentiment.- tranhieu

CIEM with the biggest soundstage
Well technically any kind of 'soundstage' that is produced by headphones/iem can be considered fake (except for the K1000's and probably the sony prf v1). Real sound localisation involves head & torso interfrence with sound, which is absolutely omitted in headphones/iems :)- tranhieu

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
An acoustic horn wouldn't do much in this case given the fact that the ear canal's cross section area is limited, and you would need a pretty big mouth to get some decent amplification in the upper end. An acoustic horn would work better as an acoustic impedance adaptor. As for better treble...- tranhieu

Home-Made IEMs
I'm not sure about the specifics since I have my jewelry craftman friend made them for me. But he cast the hollow shells right off the bat so no milling at all.- tranhieu

Yes I did, we need the wax for some proper buildup. Metal shrinks a lot after cooling down.- tranhieu

Home-Made IEMs
Traditional crafting technique, nothing special though, the hard part was to tweak the impression so that the final earpieces fit well enough. They're very prone to scratching, but a layer of coating would prevent that... to some extent. Nope, looking forward to those guys' product also.- tranhieu

Not sure if this's allowed, I will delete this post upon request. But I am having several 2389, 2356, 1723, 2600, 23e25, 26e25 lyring around in the drawer here. Bought them in bulk for R&D but ended up using only a few (the design was completed much faster than we thought). Just want to collect...- tranhieu

How is the treble of the Air as compared to Monet's? I personally don't feel the Monet's treble is 'right' for anison but it's more forgiving than the 335dw, which is one of my go to pair for anisong.- tranhieu

My impression with the MH334 demo was kind of a mixed bag. The ones I tried in Singapore and Malaysia were both inferior to the TG334 however the demo in Taiwan was way better, as in a completely refined version of the ToGo.- tranhieu
