Audio gear in the cold cold winter...?

Extreme cold will shorten battery life. The other and more serious problem would be condensation. If your gear is cold and you bring it into a warm environment, condensation could form on the inside of your gear. I keep my player in an inside pocket. I put my iem's in a pocket as soon as I take...

    May ungrounded outlets cause noise?

Your house/flat is grounded. Your wall outlets would be grounded from the neutral pin of 2-prong outlets to a central ground at your sevice panel. This is only hazardous if the flat has been wired incorrectly. You may also have a problem if one of your appliances becomes faulty since the...

Can someone help me identify these?

The only Griffin speakers I've heard of from the 80's were some Japanese made speakers that weren't on the market very long. I never heard them and there wasn't much reported about them except one comment I remember that some of the enclosures were nice. Neither of the current Griffin-named...

    Winter heating temps

I set my temperatures exactly the same as you do. Both my wife and I prefer it cooler. Most of our friends know to wear sweaters when they come visit us. I do raise the temperature to 70 when I notice that someone is uncomfortable. Any higher and I find it too warm. Some years ago I did some...

    Voltage Difference query

110v electronics will not work with 220v and vice versa. You would have to change/adjust the internal power supply/transformer and possibly the power cord. That being said, some electronics come with a switch allowing you to change the source from 110/115v to 220/240v (similar to the switch on...

Broken Music Hall MMF 5 coming my way! Advice?

A new Music Hall 5.1 turntable sells for around $850. and up. The majority of that cost is in the tonearm. The MMF5 came with an aluminum arm or an optional carbon fiber arm. Since that arm is bent, it's the aluminum arm. The carbon fiber arm would break rather than bend. I haven't seen the...

    A Used Turntable Question

Just fyi. B&O turntables are very good and clear, but they may not sound as full in comparison to some other tables. They are dynamic, but overall more of an airy sound with tight bass rather than lush or heavy impact.
