    What to complement HD 580

OK so my first intro to the world of decent headphones has been the HD 580, and omg what an intro.   Anywany I love everything about them, but there are certain things I listen to that require more bass. I just bought some Sony XB700 for things like trance and hiphop as I thought they would...

    Tube buffered CMOY ?

Hi. I was looking into various simple DIY headphone amps specifically for current hungry low impedance cans such as Grados or in my case 24 ohm Sony XB700.    I came across the Apheared A47 amp and it looked interesting; nice and simple. However it got me thinking about building...

How badly do I need to replace my velour pads?

Best mouse ever made!   I took the foam inserts out but couldn't notice anything myself.  And yes, the pads are worth replacing.....new ones are much stiffer and the drivers will be further from your ears which improves bass response and separation.   I know they are crazy pricey though...

I have the 2.5A version of this powersolve SMPS and it works great for my indeed amp (the original PSU blew).   http://cgi.ebay.com/Powersolve-PS45A24-Network-Telephone-Mains-Adaptor-5a-/380246021682?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58886dd632#ht_1601wt_854

    SONY MDR-XB700 HEADPHONES, any reviews?

Just bought a pair of refurbished XB700 for just south of $70 w/ 2day shipping. Excited to try them out once they arrive, all this bass will be a nice change from my HD 580s.  I wonder how my Indeed hybrid amp will handle these low impedance cans.

    the Pimeta-V2 thread

Hi all. For my next project I wanted to build a pimeta v2 and grubDAC in the same enclosure.  I have a 24VAC wallwart transformer I planned to use with a TREAD for an 18VDC supply to the Pimetav2. However Tangent's shop no longer contains the TREAD kit?     Otherwise I will just use amb's...

Just getting ready to move back to the USA (Portland, OR), and snapped some pics of my indeed amp to sell. I started writing the FS thread and just couldn't finish it! I can't bear to sell this little beauty so it's coming with me! :D

Cheap headphone amp vs a higher priced headphone amp

tubes ARE inferior when it comes to reproducing perfect sound. The thing is, we like what the tubes do to the sound.

A New Hybrid from Indeed Hi-Fi Labs: does this look fun?

Upgraded PSU cap to a 4700uF Nichicon KW, Mullard 6922, changed out a small filmcap by the psu for a wima....bypassed some other caps with a few film caps.   And changed the push-switch to a toggle switch.

A New Hybrid from Indeed Hi-Fi Labs: does this look fun?

well it didn't go well. I replaced the DIP8 chip and it still didn't work so gave up and scoured ebay for a replacement PSU. I found a Powersolve 2.5A 24V switching PSU. It's much larger and heavier than the stock indeed one. It sells for nearly 40GBP on Farnell but i got it for 6.50 shipped...

A New Hybrid from Indeed Hi-Fi Labs: does this look fun?

my switching 2A indeed PSU blew up. Opened her  up and the KA3842A SMPS controller was all black and obviously had gone kaput :/ Looked like some chinese no-name manufacturer so ordered a Fairchild-Semiconductor KA3842ACS along with 2 Panasonic FC 470uF 35V caps that do some final smoothing on...
