Got my repaired N8's back from 64. They did a nice job on the repair, props to them for making it right. I've attached an audiogram of my perceived freq response before and after. Right = Red circle Left = Blue X Both = Green Cross. Very good channel matching on the repair. Buy with...

    Android: Neutron Music Player

I just got an iPad 5 mini and have some questions about how to get best audio using neutron. I used the FTP server to transfer my FLAC music to the iPad. Unfortunately it seems that iOS coverts FLAC to 24/44.1 PCM without regard for the original file (apologies if this is not correct...

Turns out my last (second) N8 was defective. I ran some extensive frequency response test and the right channel was down about 20 dB from 500-1500 hz. It is getting repaired, so you can kinda disregard what I said. I think all my problems can be attributed to a faulty midrange array on the...

Don't put too much stock in what I have to say, I am old with hearing loss and am down 10 db @3khz in my right ear. I generally prefer brighter sounding headphones for that reason, although I have mostly given up on wasting hi-fi money on my old ears. I may experiment with foam like Crin did...

About 30 hours on the new ones at this point. The old ones sounded perfect right out of the box. I do like that the new ones came with both M15's and M20's though. The perceived difference is similar to what Crin has described in comparing his universal demo N8 to his custom, pre-mod.

They changed the N8 apparently. My first pair got used very hard for about 2 years and eventually died in an unfortunate laundry accident. The new ones are much thicker in the upper sub-bass to midbass range and kind of muddy. The originals were perfect, wish I hadn't treated them so badly...

They just did the same thing to me! Just got a USPS slip saying I need to go to the post office and pay ~$20 to pick up the cable I ordered! Sounds like whoever is shipping things at 64 is doing something very wrong. Just tell me what the damn shipping costs are up front and I will make the...

Can anyone say if there are any limits to what LID technology can do? I just got a new laptop and the headphone output impedance is about 70 ohms. Honestly it sounds fine with my N8's, but I was just wondering if there's is a limit to what LID can overcome.

    crinacle's IEM Ranking List

Really enjoyed the N8 review, thank you! I continue to be very happy with mine which I purchased some time ago, I think it has the plate+pinhole covering the DD, although it could be foil (I don't see much wrinkling that would normally appear on foil) I don't get much mid-bass muddiness if...

Still loving my N8's after about 9 months. The perfect headphone for me and have pretty much caused me to lose interest in the "hobby". My only wish is that 64 made a CIEM aviation headset. Right now I use the david clark DCpro-X over ear, but man, the isolation isn't even close to a 64...

Well after sweating profusely all over my N8's for about 5 months now they finally stopped working. Luckily it is only some kind of problem with the cable on the right side because when I swap the left channel cable into the right IEM it works fine. Does anyone know if the premium cable is in...

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

64 Audio N8, if you can afford it, is the ultimate solution in my opinion.

I've had my N8 for about 6 weeks now. It is amazing. I have a/b'd it with my full sized headphones and honestly prefer its tonality and freq response to all of them. It doesnt even give up much in soundtage either thanks to apex (you can even take the apex module completely out for situations...

I was flip flopping between the N8 and the A12t before I ordered too. I'm glad I went with the N8 because I wouldn't want any less bass than what it has. It's the right amount for me, which is surprising, because that almost never happens in a blind purchase. I'm sure the A12t would be great...

Yeah I'm concerned but 90% of my music time is during exercise and I plan to follow 64'S guidelines. My Futuresonics have held up pretty well for a year or so to a lot of sweat so I figured I'd try a more ToTL-ish CIEM.

Ether Flow Open is definitely brighter in treble and more V shaped with less sub bass. Ether Flow has to win in soundstage and clarity though. Main difference is that the N8 has a lot more present midrange and more very low frequency sub-bass kick (below 50hz especially). I am away from home...

Just got my N8's in. They sound reaaaallly good. Tonally they probably remind me most of an HD650 with more upper mid detail and precision plus bass emphasis shifted from midbass down to subbass. I feel like I'm hearing midrange detail that I don't normally hear, I'm not sure if it's a...

Problem with my V35: I use the phone to workout and listen to music, problem is I turn on "Do Not Disturb" yet about every 10 minutes I still get a notification from "Android System" telling "Do Not Disturb is on" which STOPS THE MUSCIC (playing from spotify). I have turned every notification...

I can't find headphones I like. Tell me what to try next please!

Considering you like the 7506, maybe a used pair of Mr. Speakers Ether Flow Opens. I'm going to assume you like a bit of elevated bass because of the EMU-teak purchase and 7506 preference. The EFO has the treble sparkle and open soundstage to keep it exciting, pretty good bass impact for an...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Maybe. Headphone soundstage seems to have a lot to do with frequency response. I don't use EQ on my headphones normally, although I've messed around with Equalizer APO a little bit to try and get some bass impact out of the HD800. I think the AFO has a kind of cup reverb effect from its...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

I have the Aeon Flow Open as well; I prefer the Ether Flow by a fair margin overall. AFO has good sub-bass impact for an open headphone, probably the best I've heard in an open. However, compared to Ether Flow, the timbre/tone of instruments is not as natural, there is not as much of a sense...
