Sennheiser Orpheus HE 90 vs. HE 1 - Impressions of a direct comparison
That's a gorgeous setup buddy indeed. But alas, we are saving for a new house(3 kids now) and I'll have to settle for the time being.- Guss2

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Wow, I can't even remember when I posted that. Thanks for waking me up though, and enjoy. Also, which version of the 650's do you own? I still have mine, and they are the original/first production versions. Can't say I've heard the revised 650's. Honestly wouldn't matter, the HE90's smoke them.- Guss2

HE90 leather pads
Thank you Hugo, and your wife as well. I would never have had the balls to take on such an endeavor myself, and I can attest that these pads are of very high quality. I'm very proud to say that, at least in some small way, I could be a part of this project coming to fruition. I'll try and find...- Guss2

Sennheiser Orpheus HE 90 vs. HE 1 - Impressions of a direct comparison
I was exaggerating, but I'd feel uncomfortable having anything in my home that could possibly overheat to the point of breakdown, or something even worse. I also think that you are probably in the minority of people who feel the original T2 is better than it's more modern counterpart.- Guss2

Sennheiser Orpheus HE 90 vs. HE 1 - Impressions of a direct comparison
Not to take anything away from it, but being in the "minority" of people that never actually had one blow up on them isn't exactly high praise for such a legendary amplifier. I'll go with the more reliable DIY T2 with the updated power supply, thanks all the same.:smile_phones:- Guss2

Sennheiser Orpheus HE 90 vs. HE 1 - Impressions of a direct comparison
I've been interested in doing this since the first time you mentioned this Purk. I'm just not sure if I have the DIY chops to make it happen, but I will eventually try. Are all the parts for this project readily available?- Guss2

All I'm saying is you don't have to spend millions on speakers to rival the best headphone systems. Got it?- Guss2

Focal Utopia General Discussion
If you look at the post I quoted instead of going off on some other tangent you'd see that my comment was with regard to his comment, "...I'm really hoping I never end up liking loudspeakers more than headphones, because the effort and investment involved in getting ultimate performance from the...- Guss2

Focal Utopia General Discussion
I could sell my HE90 rig and easily get a 2 channel speaker setup that would wipe the floor with them in most areas, my opinion of course. You just need the proper space to do it, and truth be told, I've gotten quite used to them. I've heard very, very good sound from below 10,000 dollar 2...- Guss2

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)
Track 1 was a binaural recording, so the soundstage would be staggeringly huge. I've had the same(double take) experience with my HE90's.- Guss2

Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition
When I heard the BHSE with the O2's I had a brief thought of getting a second headphone rig; they impressed me that much. Now Purk has me thinking about putting an expensive set of tubes in the Aristaeus,or worse, going for a DIY T2. This is an evil hobby we've chosen. I feel like a drug addict...- Guss2

Thanks for the recommendation Purk, I've been getting some feedback in one channel and I think a tube might be going. I'm sending you a PM with another question, thanks.- Guss2

The BHSE is an amazing amp paired with Stax phones but not so much with the HE90. The Aristaeus shines with them though.- Guss2

Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition
Yep, that tells you there are far less HE90's available because the Aristaeus makes these phones sing, not so much with the BHSE.- Guss2

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)
I own both and they're not even close. That's not a shot at the 650's because they are very good phones but no way do I ever choose them over the HE90's, except maybe for convenience/portability.- Guss2

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)
Yep, those are the only 2 that I know of. Also Purk, weren't there 2 or 3 different versions of the HEV90? 1 being superior to the others/for which the Aristaeus was based on? I've heard a few Orpheus systems but 1 of them was clearly better than the others I've heard, very nice indeed. Would...- Guss2

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)
The HE90's are very, very amp dependent. I'm not shocked at all that you only thought they were okay out of the BHSE, that's exactly what I thought. The BHSE drove the 007's beautifully and the HE90's sounded blah. Then I hooked the 007's to my new Aristaeus and they lost all their punch and...- Guss2

2015 Central Florida Summer Meet @ LiveSoundWave in Orlando 8.1.2015
It's a shame I won't be able to make this one, just bad timing. Would have made for some great photo ops with the Senn rep and my HE90/Aristaeus rig. Maybe he'll give a few details about the potential new Sennheiser headphones later this year. I'll try my best to make the next meet. You guys...- Guss2
