I can assure you these are the real deal,to Sennheiser specification pads, just much better material.

I was exaggerating, but I'd feel uncomfortable having anything in my home that could possibly overheat to the point of breakdown, or something even worse. I also think that you are probably in the minority of people who feel the original T2 is better than it's more modern counterpart.

Not to take anything away from it, but being in the "minority" of people that never actually had one blow up on them isn't exactly high praise for such a legendary amplifier. I'll go with the more reliable DIY T2 with the updated power supply, thanks all the same.:smile_phones:

I've been interested in doing this since the first time you mentioned this Purk. I'm just not sure if I have the DIY chops to make it happen, but I will eventually try. Are all the parts for this project readily available?

Track 1 was a binaural recording, so the soundstage would be staggeringly huge. I've had the same(double take) experience with my HE90's.

When I heard the BHSE with the O2's I had a brief thought of getting a second headphone rig; they impressed me that much. Now Purk has me thinking about putting an expensive set of tubes in the Aristaeus,or worse, going for a DIY T2. This is an evil hobby we've chosen. I feel like a drug addict...

The BHSE is an amazing amp paired with Stax phones but not so much with the HE90. The Aristaeus shines with them though.

Yep, that tells you there are far less HE90's available because the Aristaeus makes these phones sing, not so much with the BHSE.

I own both and they're not even close. That's not a shot at the 650's because they are very good phones but no way do I ever choose them over the HE90's, except maybe for convenience/portability.

I'm sure you'll get your shot some day. Maybe if Sennheiser releases a new electrostat you won't need them. 

I'd love that case for my HE90's, I'm sure they wouldn't fit though.
