Boards of Canada
As anyone heard the original copy of Boards of Canada - Closes Vol. 1? Its suppose to be super elusive since it was made way before they reached any kind of fame. I'm super curious to how to sound and how it compares to their more recent, more famous albums. Thanks- TheChoster

I encoded my music (CD's) In 384kbps WMA 96/24 CBR, and I was wondering...
Hi Wanted to point out that you don't need to encode in 96/24 unless you are ripping from vinyl or DVDA. Most (and by this I mean all) CDs are encoded in 44.1/16 due to space limitations. And instead of encoding it in 96/24, why don't you increase the bit rate to something higher than 384...- TheChoster

Looking for an Amp/Dac, sorry guys
The more I look into it, I just wanna say screw it and just jump straight into vinyl. Any suggestions over here, welcome as well. The thing about the new Audio GD is that they seem very flavour of the month, and while that's not so bad, I would rather purchased products that have been out for...- TheChoster

Looking for an Amp/Dac, sorry guys
Hello Looking to buy a new Amp and Dac for my system, I have a Beyer DT880/600 and on my way to acquire a ATH W5000 I listen to pretty much everything, but I just have discovered classical music and trying to get my hands on every piece possible. However, that being said, I listen mostly...- TheChoster

CRYOGENIC TREATMENT
Our audio components is as best as the weakest component in our lines up, but if we wanna go the the molecular level Even if our cable was cryogenic treated but our solder or the tips of the connectors weren't, than it become bottleneck there (if we are talking at the molecular level, and the...- TheChoster

Question for the ladies!
Ohh boy This thread is gonna be fun. However, I'm not sure if the whole hearing thing is true or not I'd think that women would prefer to allocate their money elsewhere first And how many women do you know with a Creative Xtremegamer sound card?- TheChoster

Gregorian Chant
Hello Recently I got into Gregorian chant, but much of the music is sung by men. However, I prefer the ethereal, smooth quality of the female voice rather than men. I find that in Gregorian chant, men have a much more raw, heavy voice Thus I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations...- TheChoster

Do you think wearing full-size headphones in public makes you look like a spaz/geek/weirdo?
Damn This thread is meant to be fun But to contribute, I have walked around with my HD600 Really didn't have any problems except they got a little to hot and no isolation, so I stopped But if I could install a fan and tape shut the opening, eh Why not- TheChoster

If you think your headphone can handle real dreaded lows then click this youtube link
Look No one is saying it isn't bass Think of it this way, imagine you are trying to do a watercolor but all you can paint with are green I mean, you can paint and make pictures but it lacks the complexity or a full colored painting Your bass, like all hip hop (I'm quite familiar since I...- TheChoster

Best CLOSED Headphones for a Novice Audiophile ?
Well Though I don't own a pair and considering your planning on paying 300 to 400, meaning its a full sized can Denons....? Forgot the model number though, was it D3000 or something I'm not sure how the amp factor weighs in, but ESW9 seems attractive if not sexy- TheChoster

Not to douse gasoline on the flames.... But car speaker systems can hardly be taken as a reference to sound quality Not when there are contests where adolescent boys stream into a stadium and two boys attempt to play their music as loudly from their vans as possible. I mean, I can...- TheChoster

Portable Headphones
Hello Im looking for portable headphones, but not in the sense of IEMs but a full size. The problem is with size and isolation. I would prefer a full size closed headphone or a smaller, pint sized open headphone as the isolation can be sacrificed for a portability. I am looking for the price...- TheChoster

Which top end headphone's sound is the most realistic and closest to real life sound?
Kinda random But isn't any headphone that has really any powerful bass kinda unnatural. As the instruments that are represented with a strong bass, e.g. drums, when a listener is present, doesn't the drums only reproduce the drum "sound" not the physical experience of the bass when listening...- TheChoster

Changes in sound
I suppose, I guess I'm trying to objectify something that is purely subjective. That's probably why I'm receiving the answers I am rather than the ones I seek, however I thank the members that have responded. Perhaps I should change this thread into, "Your very first experience with Hi-fi...- TheChoster

Changes in sound
Im using a ALO LOD. I thought of that, but I suppose even with a bad synergy of components I felts that I should still hear some change. Changes in sound
Hello I had a general question to all the members of the Head-fi community in regards to the change in sound quality with regards to changes in audio file type, source, amped, unamped, etc. To begin, I bought a pair of HD600 some times back cause I got a really good deal on them as well as...- TheChoster

Weird Clicking noise

I was looking into the Jupiter wire: http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalog/wire.html Everything seems to fit except the fact that is it solid core and that it is encased in a cotton casing. Just to clairfy The ground wire is located at the negative terminal of the driver while the L/R are at the positive accordingly.
