Cayin N5ii Technical Support thread
With the change in seasons I've switched how I use the Cayin, and the unexpected pauses have stopped. During the winter, I am in and out of the device often (everyday), downloading new music and podcasts. My listening often switches between podcasts and music. I listen for about an hour or...- RASeymour

Thanks for the notes on the roll off choices. I must have read a half dozen reviews and none of them explained the differences as well (if at all). Now if someone could tell me what the "Smart Cleaning" function actually does. I do like this player, esp. with Ety 4XR (not so much with FiiO F9...- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Technical Support thread
That has been my experience also. When you have a signal, sound is good. Is there a fix? My only solution was just to keep the player in line of sight, or at least in line with the side of the earphones with the bluetooth receiver.- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
They are Anker SoundBuds and JLab Audio Epic2. I'm loving this unit otherwise (except for the periodic pauses).- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
FWIW I've given up using the bluetooth function as it does not work well with various in-ear bluetooth earphones. If the player is right in front of me and I don't turn my head to block the signal, it works OK.- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
I have not seen any consistency in freezing between the two cards, or the type of file (FLAC or MP3). FWIW, I have never had a freeze while playing back podcasts. Podcasts are downloaded and stored on the internal memory and are low resolution MP3 files.- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
Andy: Will the new firmware resolve the pausing/skipping issue? This afternoon, in the space of a half-hour, the player paused three times. Playing FLAC file, using the audiophile mode (or whatever you call it). Display was off. Playing from a SD card. Otherwise, I'm loving this player...- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
Resume play after shutdown. Wrote about this earlier but still having problems. When I shut down the player, it sometimes comes back to my last song, and sometimes it goes back to a song I was playing days ago. Shutdown by manually powering off. No apparent pattern to when it correctly...- RASeymour

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
Resume function problems. New to Cayin, coming from FiiO. When I turn my player back on, sometimes it resumes on the same song and sometimes it goes back to another album or song I listened to days ago. Seems no rhyme or reason. Always shut the player down. Also, having problems with...- RASeymour

HiFiMAN RE-00 Earphone Review by mark2410
Had these for a few months now and just love them, especially for the price. Clear. Need a bit of bass. Wouldn't have given them a second look but for this review. Thanks Mark.- RASeymour

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
On replay or resume, either from a shutdown or pause, does the track start playing on own or do you need to also press play? I'm used to the FiiO, which plays on resume, but I just bought a PlenueD, which does not (you need to press play). Because of the way I use my player, the PlenueD...- RASeymour

Etymotic ER-4XR Extended Response Earphone Review by mark2410
Triple flanges from Ety in the past have been real horror shows but I found the ones that shipped with the 4XR to be OK, and I even used them for awhile before shifting back to Comply this past weekend.- RASeymour

HiFiMAN RE-00 Earphone Review by mark2410
These really are a lot of fun. I didn't need them, and bought on a lark. Test is that I haven't stopped using them since purchase. Accessories are not a factor for me, and these essentially have none.- RASeymour

HiFiMAN RE-00 Earphone Review by mark2410
Comply's fit finder says the 400's. I just ordered the mixed types. I know from past experience with the RE-? that tips are bit tricky with this design.- RASeymour

Etymotic ER-4XR Extended Response Earphone Review by mark2410
Great review. Not often I laugh out loud at a Head-Fi review. As a long time 4S user, I wanted to point out that the XR cable is easier to loop over your ear. The old 4S cable was so stiff it would often pop out.- RASeymour

Loved the old q-Jays. Glad to see they focused on the two main problems with the old ones: brittle cord and earwax clogging. These were (and look to still be) some of the smallest IEM's on the market and were (are) incredibly comfortable.- RASeymour

Grado - Fantastic Customer Service
Me too. A number of years ago the one of the metal poles came out of the C-bracket. Out of warranty. Sent it in and it was fixed, don't remember if there was a fee. Working to this day. I always use this anecdote when people complain about obsolescence in American products.- RASeymour

These really are a steal. I buy two or three sets each season and use them for outdoor activities. They hold up well, given the beating I give them, but do tend to just go out suddenly. While an amp isn't required it does help tremendously with the sound. Thanks for reminding everyone about...- RASeymour

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
RHA T10's and the 5G: Listened to the new 5TX (normal bass boost edition) over the weekend, exclusively with the RHA T10. I liked the T10 but found the treble to be a bit rolled off and the vocals recessed. To a large extent the 5TX fixed this. The treble switch (at I setting) upped...- RASeymour

FWIW (while we're all waiting on the new amp): Through nearly daily use for the last four (+?) years, I've never had the power run out in one of these amps. Never. Can't say that about any other portable amps.- RASeymour
