Looking recommendations for quality over the ear live mixing headphones for a young professional
The Sony's are only 50 input impedance so I should avoid those by your reasoning. The Senn HD25 seem like they are small-ish and more on-ear then over-ear. How about the Senn HD25SP II's? They seem larger, more over-ear and have a higher impedance at 80 then the HP25 II's at 70. I...- Methos1979

Looking recommendations for quality over the ear live mixing headphones for a young professional
Thanks for the info. I looked at the Senn HD558's but I'm pretty sure he needs the isolation of closed back. So I'm looking at the Senn HD 380 Pro's - any opinions on those? They are in our price range.- Methos1979

Looking recommendations for quality over the ear live mixing headphones for a young professional
My son just graduated from college and got a job at a local live music/theater venue that hosts all kinds of shows. He's the audio guy and runs the board. He mixes everything from live bands to plays to movies. For his birthday I'd like to get him a nice pair of headphones for this job. What is...- Methos1979

Klipsch Image X10 - Am I missing something?
I test drove the X10i's recently and found them just as you described. I was not impressed at all, especially given the price. I did like how small and light they were, and love the look, but they went back. Just tried some Monster Turbine Miles Dave Tributes. Same thing, back they went. ...- Methos1979

Portable headphones for iPhone with mic
Do you want over-ear or IEM? I've got Bose QC15's that sound nice if you like the Bose sound and noise canceling. The newest models come with the iPhone controller/mic. Lot's of IEM's. I just ordered some Monster Turbine Golds with the control talk feature. $174 on Amazon as of yesterday. ...- Methos1979

Test drove some Monster Turbine Golds and MD Tributes
Wandered into Best Buy and they had a Monster demo area with a set of Turbine Golds and Miles Davis trumpet. I tried both but definitely liked the Golds better. I did have a hard time with the look of the trumpets. A week later I wandered back in and they had some of the Miles Davis Tributes...- Methos1979

The Klipsch x10i appreciation thread.
Here is my updated report. It will be shorter than usual due to time constraints and the lack of time I'm spending with these: These are definitely going back to Amazon. I just packaged them up. I listened to them for several hours last night at work and just did not warm up to them at...- Methos1979

The Klipsch x10i appreciation thread.
Quote: I just got these in the mail recently and have been giving them a good listen. I will post a longer evaluation soon but just wanted to respond to the comment above - Yes, these definitely do seem 'dark' to me. I don't find the bass particularly punchy or detailed enough for me. ...- Methos1979

Your experiences: 1964 vs. LiveWires vs. Kozee
Close to pulling the trigger on a set of Quads. Two more questions - I wear glasses, are the over-the-ear loops a problem for those who wear glasses? Seems I've heard something about this. And last, from the photos I've seen, the plug that goes into the source looks kinda big and boxy. I'd...- Methos1979

Problem with ears itching & tri-flange tips.
I have this problem with almost any and every universal IEM out there. It's a pain in the ass because it makes using IEMs and enjoying the benefits of them almost impossible. Along with the itching, wearing the IEMs for long periods of time seems to cause my ears to go into overdrive creating...- Methos1979

Your experiences: 1964 vs. LiveWires vs. Kozee
My primary reason for buying customs is that my ears cannot tolerate universal IEMs. I have very sensitive ears. But I have custom molded hearing protection for motorcycle riding and those do not bother me at all. So I'm looking for higher fidelity but with the comfort of a custom molded IEM.- Methos1979

Your experiences: 1964 vs. LiveWires vs. Kozee
Follow up question for the folks that chimed in on the 1964-EARS - I'm definitely leaning towards these. Let me ask you guys though, what are your sources? Do you use an amp? Here's my deal: Listen through an iPhone 4, no amp, just streamed music off the cloud (Pandora, Napster...- Methos1979

Your experiences: 1964 vs. LiveWires vs. Kozee
I'm jumping into the custom monitor pond after a long wait. I've narrowed it down to the above three companies as all three have similar products at similar prices. Right kinda leaning towards the 1964's with the LiveWires as a close second. I'm looking for actual experiences with these...- Methos1979

FiiO 7 arrived. Hmmm... What am I missing?
Wow! I hadn't been back here in a while and I'm surprised how many posts have been added. I'm also happy to see that I am not the only one who noted this problem. I sent my E7 back to the place I bought it, Micca, and they tested it and said it performs as it should so it is just not the amp...- Methos1979

FiiO 7 arrived. Hmmm... What am I missing?
Jack, The Bose Tri-Port AE's. They are my daughter's headphones (now - she stole them with my Zen). I know they are not like on this site but like I said in my email, the NC phones are the ones I use and need to use, and ultimately need an amplifier to be able to push. M- Methos1979

FiiO 7 arrived. Hmmm... What am I missing?
Hello to all and thanks for the quick replies and ideas. A special thanks to Jack from Micca for jumping in as well. Jack - yes, I did get your email but I was on the road all weekend on a business trip. Mochan - I don't use the Zen anymore because my daughter appropriated from me! That...- Methos1979

FiiO 7 arrived. Hmmm... What am I missing?
Well I received my FiiO7 headphone amplifier today. I appear to be missing something though. I bought these because my ears cannot tolerate IEMs and the larger cans I use with my mp3 player don't play my older songs, ripped from my CDs loud enough. Newer stuff (that's so poorly recorded and...- Methos1979

Sennheiser MM100
Well, the MM100's arrived finally. Free shipping is great but I think they must strap it to a turtle and send it along! Anyhow, the phones are just okay. The first and biggest issue is there is NO noise-canceling whatsoever. I'm not really surprised by this because as I looked at them I...- Methos1979

Sennheiser MM100
Anyone tried these out yet? I loved my PX100's while they lasted and I also really live behind the neck, bluetooth phones. NC I could give or take. So if these phones have a sound even close to the PX100's, they just might be what I'm looking for, for work. Anyone try them yet? Oh, I...- Methos1979

Quick recommendations for specific issues
No suggestions for someone with all my 'issues'? ;-) Believe me, sometimes I feel that way. Anyway, I might try some entry level Grado's. How are the high's on those though?- Methos1979

Quick recommendations for specific issues
Hey, long time surfer here but haven't been around in a while. I need some quick suggestions based on the following: Look for some full sized cans up to $300 Me: 48, so NOT an audiophile. Bad tinnitus and mid-range hearing loss from military accident. I have loud ringing in both...- Methos1979

Best album of sting?
Blue Turtles was very good, but I liked Tun Summoners Tales more. The one dissappointment for me on that CD was the 'new' version of 'It's Probably Me'. I love the version he recorded with Eric Clapton for the Leathal Weapon III soundtrack. It's an awesome song, much better than the version on TST.- Methos1979
