Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Really got sick of the mid-treble/upper-treble on these. Too weird for my tastes. Selling them in the FS section instead.  I have HD555s now, which I strongly prefer, and HD280's in the mail.   I do need to get another pair of HD238's though, and am considering something from the...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Hrm. It's with no EQ, through an X-Fi Go Pro! USB sound card.   It's not even so much that it is very harsh or fatiguing, really, it's more grain or just plain weirdness, and it's only a certain part of the treble frequencies. I guess it sounds more like the "mid-treble", or the center part...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Maybe so. Probably wishful thinking, but I know for my Meelectronics HT-21s and HD238s both the treble smoothed out over time. Both had rather piercing treble out of the box.

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

I really need to give these a good burn-in to see if the treble backs off a bit. It's still a little weird for certain cymbal sounds. That is the only qualm I have at all with these headphones. The bass/mids/soundstage and treble during softer music (acoustic guitars) are fantastic. Just need...

    Skullcandy

I have seen reviews of SK headphones improving lately and that with some models they're finally stepping it up some. I still think overall that they, like many other "stylish" brands have terrible/weird/childish designs and focus more on that than on sound quality.   The only one I've tried...

    please please please reply

In my experience the HD238 is relatively light on bass. It is present, but it is very tight/balanced. If music has any low bass drops or any booming/thick bass, the HD238s won't really do it justice. I believe it's plenty for most music but I don't listen to much hip-hop.

New here, interested in new headphones and stuff.

It's less about the fact that Bose/Beats headphones are terrible, and more about the fact that they are terrible for the price being asked.   I've had a large quantity of Bose headphones and I think especially the AE1 (Around-Ear) sounded quite good and fun (although colored and V-shaped...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Quote:   Could you honestly stop posting these affordable, enticing products. You're going to force me to go broke. I already got the ProDJ100's because of this thread haha Trying to resist google searching the Magni...   Oh NO it's pulling me in...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Quote:   If it is actually stiff/dry stuff like glue, that's the only thing that would worry me. Though, if it's soft and could just be excess grease for the screw, then it should be fine and over time will loosen up, I'm sure, could just be a slight anomaly that happened during...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Quote:   That doesn't seem to be right at all. They could possibly be refurbed. I could be wrong, but I know the aluminum pivots on mine are squeaky clean and move freely.

    Razer Electra.

Hrm it doesn't seem to bother me. It had some clamping force when I first got it but that has eased over time and I find it comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time.

Quote:   But if you get the TBSE edition then the cable is detachable and replaceable with a long one. If you want these headphones that might be the way to go

Pink noise works wonders for burning-in!

I always thought burning-in was BS... until my Sennheiser HD238 and Meelec HT-21 headphones. The Senns sound wildly different (and better) now than they did out of the box. Better bass, crisper/clearer highs, better separation... I was very surprised at how different they sound now.

    Razer Electra.

I personally love the AKG GHS1 headset. Decent isolation, not sure about leakage or some of the other things you require. Great mic, good sound for games or music.

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Instrument separation actually sounds pretty good to me on these, on the better end of the spectrum even, especially among budget headphones. And especially when it comes to bass guitars. I'm hearing some bass lines I never heard before and that is quite exciting to not hear it fully drowned out...

    DIY Cable Gallery!!

I have never really worked with solder and cables and DIY stuff before... but looking at this thread is making me want to replace every cable in my house with a custom made one. Not even for sound/power quality, but purely for aesthetics.   What have you done to me, Head-Fi. WHAT HAVE YOU...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

yeah they didn't have the yellow sticker at my store either so I thought the same thing at first but was prepared to pay $50 so it was a nice surprise bonus. I used to have the same issue with the X-Fi Go Pro... I don't hear it on higher-impedance headphones though... the static/buzz is only...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

The bass definitely is better coming out of my X-Fi Go Pro!, and I'm not getting the buzz AceofKnaves21 mentioned. It could be EMI. I have mine inserted into a USB extension cable to distance it from the computer itself. I don't know if that might help.   These headphones seem very picky...

Koss Pro DJ 100 - The Budget King

Was able to pick up the TBSE1 today at Tuesday Morning (local store) for $40 (it was the normal $50 and then 25% off storewide sale today).    I was able to spend more time in Best Buy this time listening to it's brother, the DJ200, and it seemed the system was hooked up properly this time...

EarPods - Apples newest entry into IEM

I think they are far more clear/balanced (especially in treble) than most of Meelec's offerings (M6, R1, M2). Meelec's similarly-priced models sound good for the price, but I'd take the EarPods any day over them. I haven't tried the BA earphones from Meelec or the clarity series, so maybe those...

Apple Earpods/Meelec m6 to sell or not to sell

It depends on what your ears tell you about the sound. Because you may enjoy the sound of an IEM sealed in your ear better... you should at least try out the EarPods for a few minutes, even if you do decide to sell. Your experience could be the opposite of mine.

My "newbie" review of the TBSE1 (special edition Koss ProDJ100)

WickedZen, where were you able to get these for $50? Were they new as well? I might jump on them immediately at that price. Around here they've been going for $70-80.

My "newbie" review of the TBSE1 (special edition Koss ProDJ100)

Hrm. Yeah I've been wanting to get a decent mid-priced headphone ($50-$100) range, and so far I've narrowed down the field to the ProDJ100 and Sony ZX700, but have been considering others as well. This seems to be one of the absolute top-liked headphones at its price range. Once I can sell some...
