    Looking for a watch - $1000

I too am looking for a watch in the $1,000 range (college graduation coming up). I'd like it to be new and automatic, with a leather band and simple face, which seems to limit my options. I really like the simple version of the Tag Heuer Carerra, and some of the Stowa watches that have...

Spring is here, What's your allergy medicine?

I grew up in southern California, and I guess because it was so dry I never had spring allergies. But I spent last summer in New York city, and after my first night I woke up with a terrible droopy eye, so I had to use Zaditor eye drops for a few weeks. I also took Benadryl for the regular...

What's the logic behind baby on board signs in vehicles?

I'd say so. Personally, I'm a pretty careful driver so I don't do much different when I see the sticker. However, I've been rear-ended three times - so maybe I should get one just to get people to watch out for me (or would that be immoral?).

Essential jazz artists/albums of all time?

I'd say Jaco Pastorious' self-titled is essential because of his innovations on the fretless electric bass - if that's something you're interested in.

    Workout Music

I listen to death metal or house. It's hard for me to appreciate and enjoy music after 40 minutes on an erg, so I have to listen to something that just mindlessly entertains me and keeps me on the machine.

What book are you reading right now?

I just finished "The Prize" by Daniel Yergin, and am about to start "The House of Morgan" by Ron Chernow.

AKG Differences in Product Range (whatdoichooose?)

I can share my opinions on the third question. The K601s fit your musical tastes very well. However, they are very big and a little too fragile for use while commuting. They also require a decent amplifier. If you decide to look into a desktop setup though, they are definitely something to...

    OK K501 vs K601

Should I take my Gilmore Lite as carry-on or pack it in my bags

I used to check my bass guitar while traveling to and from school, but after the airline "lost it" (I got it a back a few days later...but still...) and it started getting cracks in it's hard shell plastic case, I decided to stop. I vote carry-on, or ship it.

    Help with source (amp?)

The lack of an amp shouldn't cause "tons of distortion". Is the distortion coming from certain recordings, or from all of them? I found that when I upgraded my headphones, they brought out the distortion that was in the recordings themselves. Other than that, my first guess would be that the...

BY REQUEST: Best sounding HP jacks on integrateds/receivers.

I pulled a ten year old Marantz receiver out of my parent's garage recently, and was shocked at how good it sounds. Unfortunately, I can only compare it to my iBasso D1, but it totally blows it out of the water. Something to consider, since it sells for only $150 used nowadays. EDIT: Model...

    Classic bass guitar tracks?

Jaco Pastorious has been mentioned a few times, but specifically his "Portrait of Tracy". Incredible.

    Need More Wood

I'd recommend the Bad Plus. They are an acoustic trio (double bass, piano, drums) so they don't really get into the funk, but they certainly "wander off into that non-cohesive land of jazz".

Amp for 200 euro.. any suggestion?

I'd definitely suggest buying an amp before buying new headphones, especially if you are looking at K701s. 200 euro is on the low side for home amps, but you definitely have options, especially if you buy used or have someone build you a DIY amp. Look around in the FS forum and see what...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I tried running the K601 out of a cmoy. Don't do it. I'm currently using the iBasso D1, and I can still tell these cans have more to give. I'm currently looking into a decent home amp.

May return AKG 601s, need help

The bass on the K601 does improve with burn-in, but it still is no where near the quantity of bass that my friend's Grado SR-80s has. If possible, my suggestion would be to audition a couple headphones if possible. There are tons of headphones out there that meet your criteria.

    difference between Green solo Psu1/intro

I'm also looking into the amp, so since know one else has given a definitive answer I'll share what I've read. More informed people please correct me if I am wrong and/or elaborate. First of all, I believe the "Green" Solo is a completely different version from the 2007 Solo, which has the...

    Finally, My Decision

Ahh, that D word. How I envy you. But seriously, I haven't heard any of that gear, but it looks like a pretty killer setup. Even if you get them and don't like them, the micro DAC and GS-1 are pretty hot items around here, and I'm sure you could sell them for very close to what you paid...
