The Single Power ES-1/2 repair and restoration thread
Hey Jon, While they worked, I'm having Wayne correct and upgrade the amp as it should have been in the first place. Heck one of my power supplies was only half working as Mikhail only wired one regulator, while there are two in there, only one was used. Yeah, go figure... I rather get them...- shokunin

Neil, definitely give Wayne a call or email him. He's a bit busy right now, but he does great work, is responsive, and stands behind his work. He has my ES-1's right now working through the schematics to get them corrected and working per Dr. Gilmore's recommendation.- shokunin

mine also occurs on the left channel.. Interesting.. the two units sound similar even though the innards appear different. One actually has audio note caps in it, but it still has the orange drop bypass caps. The "newer" version uses 50W NI power resistors instead of a bunch of 5W? resistors...- shokunin

Thank you Spritzer for initiating this thread... I have 2 ES-1's and even the PSU's are different from the ones you posted. One PSU has PCB's and is very neat and very little wiring exposed, while the other is a mess like you the one you posted. The newer unit has a supposedly 'newer and...- shokunin

HeAudio 1.3, 1.2B and the new JADE Stat Headphones
rsbrsvp, I have an ES-1 and am using EH 1.2b's.. the tube rolling aspect of the ES-1 is what led me to purchase the ES-1. There's a huge number of possibilities using different tubes (even more with Mikhail's tube adapters) to tailor the sound. I was this close to pulling the trigger on...- shokunin

List of High-End Analog Source Owners on Head-Fi
I've heard a few MBL systems, and IMO, they have the most incredible imaging I've ever heard. A dental surgeon friend of mine went through a dozen amps before giving up and buying the MBL monsters. They are absolutely power hungry, but when fed properly make extraordinary music!!- shokunin

Woah... Jon, new OB speakers? Those from Mr. MLS? That is definitely an interesting solution by putting some heatshrink or some other cover on the pins. I guess they couldn't just make the pins shorter?- shokunin

I notice on my amps that the DIY stax plug does not fully seat into the socket, there's still around 1mm or so exposed pins, anyone else have the stax adapter fully insert into their amp? After 100 hours, my first foray in electrostats has been enjoyable. I recently switched on my old K1000...- shokunin

Mine are still brand spankin new... and they sound really good. This is my first stat so I didn't quite know what to expect. I'll wait for it break in over the next few days and see how they settle in. I'll have to break them in on another amp, as I'm having some bad tube days on the ES1.- shokunin

Yup, what i ordered was the 1.3s but when Fang mentioned that they're going back to 1.2bs he told me mine would be shipping soon. I'm glad Fang and HE were listening and decided to go back to a more simplistic design of the 1.2s vs. 1.3s- shokunin

I ordered mine back in December so it was probably just timing of the orders. Nearly all chinese production facilities are closed for the new year and will be for a couple of weeks, add a weeks for production, 2-3 weeks across the pacific, a week in customs, and on and on... that's 2 months.- shokunin
