Hi I am considering selling this excellent desktop small amp from SMSL, model sAp-8. It has both balanced and unbalanced inputs which can be switched at the push of a button. I was also wondering if using the T2 headphone ouput as a line preamplifier was safe and apparently it is, especially considering its gain of x1. https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/headphone-outputs-used-line-outputs-for-line-level-gear/- shamu144

I bought my first tube amp! The smsl T2...
I found some technical information on a diy forum which might be of interest to those who own the T2 or similar amps.. I bought my first tube amp! The smsl T2...
I continue having fun as it occurred to me to use the T2 as a kind of "tube preamp" between the LG G7 and my new Graham Slee Voyager. I honestly can't hear any degradation or distorsion of sound even when using the T2 full scale without attenuation. Of course the Voyager is miles ahead of the...- shamu144

I bought my first tube amp! The smsl T2...
Since this is an hybrid tube amp I agree swapping tubes has not made a big difference, yet the differences remained audible. To my ears at least it seems that the tubes are providing some character compared to pure SS offerings and this is exactly why I like this little amp: reliable like a pure...- shamu144

I bought my first tube amp! The smsl T2...
With a bit of care in the implementation, I find it easy to enjoy this amp. Currently back on the mullard. As a bedside set up, having the 3.5 jacks on the front makes it sooo convenient. For fixed desktop use, I would prefer rca in the back though... The amp seems to be running without gain so...- shamu144

Just an update to say I went back to the original tubes (6J9 J grade), and I definitely prefer them to the Mullard E180F. They provide a bit more warmth and body to the sound, making for a more relaxed experience. The Mullard are more resolving bit also feel a bit dry and analytical in...- shamu144

I have so far only a few hours with the Mullard and what I can say for now is that they do sound a bit cleaner, with perhaps improved resolution. I am still getting used. I actually miss the dirtier and warmer sound of the stock tubes but the Mullard will stay for some time so that I really get...- shamu144

Good to see another user around !! Funny I ordered exactly the same replacement tubes :beerchug: I will let you know when I receive them. I am already enjoying a lot the T2 even with stock tubes. Soundstage is much wider than directly through the Xperia phone with a stable, silent background...- shamu144

Another user here of the T2 amp. I received mine 3 weeks ago. This is a really fun little tube amp with I feel great potential for the price. At 60$, it is hard to criticize. I use it on my bedside table, paired with a Sony Xperia compact Z3 (Tidal app with MQA enabled), and yes, dare I, hooked...- shamu144

Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread
I have ordered a Sony Xperia Z3 to pair with the N3. My ipod touch 5G works ok but lacks finesse and smoothness to my ears. I hope the Z3 can bring just that. Curiously I prefer to listen to the N3 straight out of the ipod touch jack rather than the DFB. With the DFB, the sound is so acurate...- shamu144

TaoTronics TT-EP01 , When good is not expensive
Just had my first flight with the 001. No doubt the ANC helps blocking engine sounds but I was expecting a bit more attenuation after reading around. I would sah about 60 to 70% of engine noise is blocked. This is enough to listen to music without crancking up the volume but it is definitely not...- shamu144

Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread
I was looking for a good but not crazy expensive iem substitue for my Audioquest NO which I do not use much because of its over ear form factor and apparent "fragility" when moving around. After some research I ended picking up the N3. I had very good previous experience with Sony gear. I...- shamu144

A deserved thumb up for this little gem . I am really surprised at how good they sound. I actually much prefer them to my Onkyo IE FC300 and Focal Sphear S. And that is not even considering the ANC function which performs admirably well. Comfort is outstanding. I just had to cut the...- shamu144
