Aliens vs Predator comes out in a few days
I was playing the multiplayer demo just now on steam. It brings back some very good memories of AvP and AvP2 for PC. This should be a fantastic release. /drools- Redo

Do you want the metric system in the USA?
I'd be jumping for joy if here in the USA the metric system was standard. I know it would take time as nearly all of our construction and manufacturing businesses are tied with the imperial system, but it's time to go metric.- Redo

My headphones have a new home, the Woo Audio HPS-T
It's one solid unit, it has some good weight to it. The base of the unit was a lot heavier and more solid than I thought it would be, which made me smile. No more tangled cords and laying my headphones down anywhere, they now have a nice home This thing is immaculate, Woo Audio sure can...- Redo

Lyrics
I find Lyrics to detract from the music. I personally think they are the least important part of music, sometimes they hit a nice stride with a good melody, otherwise I feel like they take too much prominence (and generally age horribly if the words spoken are the focus) Tone, melody, pace... -

CD's of the late 80's
What a gem late 80's CD's are, and they can be found for very cheap (amazon is great used CD source). Pay less, get more, crank up the volume and enjoy what digital audio is all about. -
Favorite "exotic" meat?
"Exotic" can be interpreted in many ways, but what is your favorite "odd" meat (at least by local cultural standards). I'm in Chicago, and it's the typical out here: beef, pork, lamb, a large variety of seafood, chicken, other poultry such as turkey, duck, goose (duck and goose being a rarer...- Redo

Queen - A Night at the Opera
Even though Bohemian Rhapsody has been overplayed to death, and much of Queen is tired for all of us at this point, this album is still fantastic and one of the best of all times. It gives my volume knob a good workout for sure. -

The more I listen to Vinyl, the more I dislike Digital...
Maybe I like the euphonic warm vinyl signature? Even well produced CD's are sounding too bright and brittle in comparison. Let me tell you, there's NOTHING in this world like cranking the volume while listening to a Vinyl. -

Anyone ever listen to a Quadraphonic LP on stereo?
I've recently obtained Santana - Abraxas on Quadraphonic LP, and I'm listening to it on my stereo setup. Wow, this sounds completely different! Some elements have a reverb style sound, while other instruments are clear and up front like I haven't heard before. I'm hearing this album for the... -

Tornado, in my front yard!!! Holy!!!
Yeah, well, this is the view from my front yard earlier today. Took via cell phone, so it's sorta blurry and hard to make out at times: It was intense, one of the most incredible things I've ever experienced. It was less than a mile from us, we...- Redo

Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge, my initial impressions
Very good cartridge for the money. I had some Grado cart on before from a few years back, I'm assuming one of the lower end ones (cost $80 or so). Compared to the Grado, the Ortofon has a hair more bass, much tighter bass, a much silkier midrange, and non offensive treble. The Grado has a...- Redo

Scarlett Johansson - Anywhere I Lay My Head, the album to beat in 2008?
This album is getting rave reviews, from the sound sample I've heard ( Scarlett Johansson: One Of The Most Brilliant Records You'll Hear This Year, Honestly - The NME Blog) This album looks to be the album to beat of 2008. Possibly right up there with Modern Times by Bob Dylan? -
What sort of wildlife is in the mountains to the west of Denver?
We will be vacationing in Black Hawk, CO this summer, which is in the mountains about an hour west of Denver. We found a nice pet-friendly cabin, and will be doing lots of hiking (hopefully lots of higher elevation hiking too), and maybe some fishing along side with our labrador retriever...- Redo

Great alternative to Adobe Acrobat reader
FoxIT Reader Foxit Software I came across this app the other day. Adobe is too frustratingly slow and bloated for viewing PDF's. FoxIT is the way it should be, give it a try if you're ready for a change from Acrobat's unresponsiveness. I forgot to mention, it's free.- Redo

Holiday music gift lists (and music giving ideas)
This season I decided to give my dad the gift of music for Christmas. Some of the albums that I'm giving him came from searching these music boards. I figured it would be a good idea to have a thread for music gift giving ideas. Here's what I'll be giving my dad on Christmas: Genre: Classic... -
