    Meshuggah/Cynic North American Tour:

"Sadly, from what I've been told the only reason to see them nowadays is to watch Sean Reinert play. " just saw the toronto show tonight. i have to agree. meshuggah was unreal, however. amazing. they played for maybe 1.5hrs. ticks were $25 here, and very easy to get, though the show...

Cynic - Traced in the Air

Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood talks about hi-fi.

i think JG's statement completely misses the bare fact that audiophilia can be a hobby, and that it isn't necessarily goal-oriented, but really it's just about appreciating the process and activity. it's a craft, in a way.

    2pac a hypocrite?

it's historical amnesia to extract 2pac out from his sociocultural context of 80s/90s american black ghettos... which was/still is a hyper-masculine chauvnistic setting...

Beth Gibbons' "Out of Season"--bad recording?

yes, particularly if 'the hiss' is there. but it seems Hermitt has no problems with the entire album in terms of hiss. i'll agree, a great album... and certainly a haunting voice.

Beth Gibbons' "Out of Season"--bad recording?

I was wondering if track 3, "Show", was a bad recording on the actual CD. If it isn't, then insta-purchase . Thanks in advance!

    Beyerdynamic DT990 (ver.2005) Impressions Thread

just received a pair of my own (250ohm). but i'm alarmed at the rate of how badly it's tearing apart my recordings, particularly it's revealing of hisses due to its wider treble extension than my sr225s. most of my stuff is ripped to 320cbr or 256vbr and played through 80gbIpod --> ALO bling...

Are We Ever Really Hearing Music to its Greatest Potential?

but to bypass the eardrum and feed pure data to the brain--is that still considered music? music heard to it's fullest potential--there is no such thing insofar as we can only endeavour towards it. it's an aiming for something which cannot be aimed at, because we don't even know what it is...

    Which DT990 '05 for Go-Vibe v5?

I have a Go-Vibe v5 using Powerex 9.6V NiMH batteries. It is set to low-gain as I have a SR225. I am now choosing between DT990 '05 32ohm and 250ohm versions. Does the Gv5 power the 250ohm sufficiently? Or should I just stick with the 32ohm? Where is your knob located and how loud (if you can...

    Beyerdynamic DT990 (ver.2005) Impressions Thread

i am pondering the dt990 '05 to facilitate my entrance into electronica... i have a govibe v5 amp set to low gain. to give some perspective, the highest in volume that i go via SR225 is to about 11'oclock on the knob, leaving what seems to be much room between 11'oclock and 5'o'clock. my...
