So, 2 yrs ago the HUD100 mk2 was my favorite cheap USB DAC...
..... now what? Accuracy, fun, spacious sound, smooth, deep to the center of the earth, foundation-cracking dynamics... OK all of that's a little exaggerated but only a little.. and all for $120-ish The maker was "Radsone" or "Earstudio" and they don't make DACs anymore, it seems? In today's...- hukkfinn

OK, so how do the Sennheiser MX-985 sound? Direct into my iPhone 4S, they sound great. They completely crush the Apple i-anything white earbuds, which actually sound very good if you use the black fuzzies which keep them more secure in your ears. The MX985 have much better bass, dynamics...- hukkfinn

Will a pricey Line Out Dock make a difference w/ MX-985 and JDS C5?
My Sennheiser earbuds and JDS portable amp are very nice, but not insanely great. My source is an iPhone 4S. Given these levels of quality -- would a pricey LOD be likely to make an audible difference? I am tempted to just get a $10 Fiio L3. But not if I will be missing some magic...- hukkfinn

I just received my MX985 new in box. I went to the Sennheiser website you mentioned. But, there is no way to authenticate. This box does not have the sticker that they show in their video. It has nothing that says "QR CODE" anywhere that I can find. Can anybody help? There are five --...- hukkfinn

Just bought a pair of MX-985 from Ebay, for $159 including shipping, from Hong Kong. Of course, I am sweating with fear that these will be counterfeit. Will report back, once I've received and attempted to verify on Sennheiser's website. Cheers! -Hukk- hukkfinn

Is there a way to tell if you are getting real vs. fake MX-980's? I'm in the U.S. and have these options: EBAY: - $136 new in box from Australia - $187 new from Australia - $210 - $225 from S. Korea -- all these prices seem very low for new MX-980s?? AMAZON: -...- hukkfinn

Is Bourns in the running at all? Seems they use carbon instead of conductive plastic. Thoughts? http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/PDB24.pdf (one example)- hukkfinn

Orgy of Capacitors: The Cap Thread
Hi, I have a Conrad Johnson PV12 tube preamp. It's been heavily modded, but it still has the CJ label polypropylene 2.0uF output caps. My problem and my goal: No matter what tubes I try, it currently sounds too detailed, a little bleached out, and light in its loafers. The highs are...- hukkfinn
