Awesome or Gimmick ? Sonys MDR-1ADAC
So this may have already been answered, but can you or can you not use the amp built into these when using the normal 3.5mm plug? If I want to listen to these out of my FiiO X3 II, am I stuck using these in "passive" mode?- SoundGoon

FiiO X3 gen II w/ E07K Andes
First off, thaks for any advice in advance. I've had the E07K for a while now and recently got the X3 II. Both nice pieces, and I've been trying to figure out the best way to hook them up, but couldn't really think of much aside from the default 3.5mm-to-3.5mm analog plug. Is there anything that...- SoundGoon

Fiio X3 II vs Fiio E07K
Hi Fiio - thank you for the response! I ended up ordering the X3 II simply because it was a great price and figured it would be worth it (just waiting to get it in the mail). Are there any notable component upgrades between the 2 units that you could point out? Thanks again!- SoundGoon

Denon DP-37F Turntable?
Thanks Wiljen, I appreciate the great info. What was the big thing about this particular tonearms - just that they tracked well? How would you say they stack up to the Sony biotracers from that period?- SoundGoon

Denon DP-37F Turntable?
So after a little searching I can't really tell where this tt sits in the overall scheme of things. It's a Denon direct drive with the servo tacking tonearm which sounds good, but is anyone familiar with this particular piece? Is it a good entry level turntable, a mid level, or a...- SoundGoon

Replacement Earpads for MDR 1R MK2
Hey everyone - couple question on this topic. Where do you get replacement earpads for these? And will these Brainwavz work? It says they will fit the MDR Vxxx so I was thinking they might? Thanks.- SoundGoon

Sennheiser's making a strange digital static noise...
Hello all - it's been a while since I've been on and it's good to be back here. I travel quite a bit in the military, and I have always enjoyed Sennheiser's sound signature, so I picked up a pair of PXC-450s. However, ever since I have gotten them they have made a weird digital clicking/static...- SoundGoon

Little Dot I+ or Schiit Asgard PLEASE help!!
Quote: The Asgard is actually all SS, and it is supposed to be a pretty darn good one at that. If you want to try that company's tube amp, you should look at the Valhalla - that amp is just being released, and might be worth giving a listen to...- SoundGoon

JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
Quote: Taters, if you think the plantronics 'phones feel like you're "wearing nothing," you should try the HD-590's if you can find a pair and don't mind an open set of cans.- SoundGoon

Portable aftermarket case to house HD650?
Believe it or not, depending upon what look you're going for a handgun case works wonderfully. You can find them at any sporting goods store, are built like tanks, and are relatively inexpensive. I have an aluminum one that I carry my HD-590's in, and it works wonderfully and looks classy. -
Need to find a good set of Monitoring Cans
Hey all, thanks for all of your thoughts thus far. I really like some of the suggestions, however, these have to be closed headphones. I'm liking (surprisingly) those Shure 840's, and would probably like the dt48's if it weren't for their price . Any other thoughts now that the closed...- SoundGoon

Need to find a good set of Monitoring Cans
So, I currently own the Koss Pro-4aat. I like the Koss company, but not really these headphones. I have tried a lot of things to try and get these to sound more open and detailed, but just can't seem to get them to do it for me. I have used these and the HD-280's, and have not found either...- SoundGoon
