FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit
@FiiO While it does have SPDIF, will it also feature digital audio out via USB OTG to an external DAC?- sandman1990

Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out
Just curious about this. Does that button combination get you into some sort of a system recovery? If so, this would be really helpful for firmware modders in case an update goes wrong.- sandman1990

Thinking of buying an iFi product myself. Do any of you guys have any previous experience from buying iFi products?- sandman1990

Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out
Yes, I did mean custom firmware but I did not exactly mean Rockbox although it would be awesome if that happened. What I wanted to know was if there is some way I can change the default UI themes like you could do with some of the FiiO players. They provided a tool to extract and repack the...- sandman1990

@Shanling Pardon me if this seems too naive but is there any way to modify the UI themes that come with the stock firmware?- sandman1990

New iRiver AK70
It is not safe to use Medieval CUE Splitter as it is known to have issues related to track boundaries. For more information you can read here: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,84209.0.html You can use Foobar2k safely to split a single FLAC into individual tracks using a CUE...- sandman1990

DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***
If modders can make decent custom ROMs and port a custom recovery like TWRP to the DX200, getting Google Play to work would be much easier. If you want Google Apps, you can flash any one of the packages offered by opengapps.org. If you just want bare minimal Google Play functionality, you can...- sandman1990

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
The design looks nice and simple. What is the material used for the body? Also, would like to know some details about the USB-C to Coaxial cable. What type of termination will it have on the Coaxial end?- sandman1990

The Upcoming FiiO T3 | Dual SD slot | 3.2 inch full touch screen | Optical/Coaxial/USB digital output | Slim design | APT-X | TYPE C |
That would be great. An X1-ish device with dual SD card slots, Coaxial/Optical and USB outputs and a stable, responsive firmware would be a good fit. But again this just my opinion cause I don't stream music and thus have no need for any wireless features.- sandman1990

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
Pretty sure that Quick Charge is a Qualcomm thing. Maybe FiiO are looking at doing something similar while still retaining the good old JZ4760B.- sandman1990

Personally, I would want the DAC to stay as far as possible from radio interference. So, the idea of an optional bluetooth module would be great.- sandman1990

Well that is kinda acceptable. But lets say I use it with a PC, then won't we again need a separate app for that too. Then comes another problem. Even if you make a Windows application, Mac OS, GNU/Linux and BSD users will feel left out.- sandman1990

I guess what @HiFiChris suggested is great. Also, if we have to use a separate app to access the full functionality of the device, it would seem a bit selfish (no offence). This would restrict the feature set of the device that is accessible from a different music player application...- sandman1990

Still prefer design A. While the B designs do have a display, design A somehow feels more streamlined to me compared to the odd shapes in the others.- sandman1990

The Upcoming FiiO T3 | Dual SD slot | 3.2 inch full touch screen | Optical/Coaxial/USB digital output | Slim design | APT-X | TYPE C |
There have been countless GPL violations mostly by smartphone manufacturers. If I'm not wrong, the same applies to FiiO's own X7 and iBasso's DX series both of which run Android and in turn Linux. But the whole point in getting the community involved is just to improve the software development...- sandman1990

If its not too much to ask for then maybe open up some parts of the code so that the community can contribute bug fixes and new features. (Considering the fact that a lot of production grade systems are running community software these days)- sandman1990

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Yes the issue is definitely with PulseAudio. The same happens with Fedora 23. There is actually a fix for this. You can temporarily disable PulseAudio before plugging in the X3 as a DAC and then use DeadBeeF or something for playback directly through ALSA. First edit /etc/pulse/client.conf...- sandman1990
