Odd claim on an aftermarket power cable?
OK, I like to experiment with various A/V tweaks, but this one stood out as stranger than usual. Unless I'm missing something... So I was flipping through Audio Advisor and saw a diagram of the Pangea Audio AC-9 MkII power cable. The diagram of the cable shows this- 1 large solid bass...- JR2014

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
They are amazing. I bought them mostly for music but I can't wait to try them out on some atmospheric 1st person PC games. My gaming computer is a little loud but these headphones should seal out the sound of the fans, and then some. :)- JR2014

I guess I believe in a hint of break-in with headphones. Not 100 hours with a special white noise burn-in track to align all the electrons in the copper cable, maybe just 10 hours of rock n roll. Work the drivers a bit before doing the serious listening. So I toss in a Judas Priest CD...- JR2014

My ER-4PTs arrived last night. Sold by Etymotic, but fulfilled by Amazon. Yep, the P to S converter cable is included. More later. :)- JR2014

Placed my order for my first ever ER-4PT. I'm excited. This will be my second (and hopefully last) set or IEMs. :) First was Re-Zeroes.- JR2014

I've been curious about Etymonic IEMs for a long time, and I think the time is finally here. This is probably a dumb question, but should I go with the ER-4PT or the ER-4S? Looks like they are both $299... If it matters, these will be used with my Asgard 2 in my music rig and with a Fiio...- JR2014

Thanks. Sealing noise out matters to me, letting some noise leak isn't a factor at all. So it sounds like these should work for me.- JR2014

For weeks now I've been trying to pick out what might be my last pair of closed headphones. The Mad Dog at $299 looks really intriguing to me. One question though- how well do they seal out external noise? I like to play atmospheric first person games like Stalker, Skyrim, and Bioshock...- JR2014

Having (and using?) more than one pair of nice cans
Different tools for different jobs is my approach. I have Shure SRH840s that I really like on my computer. They are closed, and keep the sound of my PC fans out. Puts me right there in the game, if that makes sense. Up next would be Denon AHD2000s. My "reference" headphone for serious...- JR2014

Please recommend a solid CD player - max. $1700
Congrats on the new Marantz CD6005. Looks like a very nice CD player. I still use one myself, though it's not all that fancy- Onkyo C-7030 for $200. Anyway, aren't you at all curious to hear what a nice headphone amp would sound like? Something with tubes maybe, like the Schiit Valhala...- JR2014

I've read some of this thread. Not all of it just yet. Was wondering, how well do these headphones seal out external noise? I'm considering using these on my PC for atmospheric first person games like Stalker, Skyrim, and Bioshock.- JR2014

Closed headphones in the $250 - $300 range. Or, the next step up past the Shure SRH840s?
I really like my 840s. They sound great and seal out external sound quite well. I can't find anything wrong with the 840s, it's just that I got a tax return and am curious about what kind of great sound I can find in the $300 range. :) The closed aspect is important to me, as these will...- JR2014

Questions regarding positional audio in headphones and so-called "marketing gimmicks"..
I'm a PC gamer, and I use all the stereo headphones (that I bought for music) for playing games. Good old fashioned stereo imaging is a wonderful thing. :) At the moment my Shure SRH840s are my favorite. They are sealed / closed, and cover up the sound of the fans on my PC.- JR2014

Schiit Bifrost Uber Analog Upgrade
One of the black screws near the IEC (power) connector stripped out on me. Probably my fault, but I felt kinda bad about that. The other black screw back there is fine, so it holds together nice and tight. Should have time to do some listening tonight. The "problem" is, I went from an...- JR2014
