The Fiio X3 Thread.
I just wanted to add my own X3 experience here. I found this DAP sounded pretty good with my Starving Student hybrid amp and MrSpeakers Mad Dogs. Then I went further and used Foobar2000 with Wasapi plugin. The sound was much better. This lead me to believe the X3 is a better DAC than a DAP. I...- cmull

The Fiio X5 Thread
Finally, someone else admits to having problems with gapless playback. I mentioned that earlier in this thread about my X3, but no one else seemed to have that problem.- cmull

Black Sabbath on HDTracks
Thanks. I have the CD rips, so I wanted to make sure these are worth the purchase. After my initial excitement, I was second guessing whether or not to by these. I think I'll keep them on my "must get" list. -
Black Sabbath on HDTracks
Yeah. I noticed that yesterday. I'm definitely getting this when I get the funds to do so. This is one of my all time favorite bands. -
Fiio X3 Nightmare
As for me and my X3, I've had to retag/rename some files and put lower resolution cover art on some ID3 tags. However, I've had to do that with most media players I've owned. You just have to be smarter than the device. Besides, any problems you have theses days can usually be remedied after... -
The Fiio X5 Thread
I like to chime in on RG. Personally, I think it is very useful when you are listening to music and working. Basically, when your music is being used in the background and technically not being "listened" to. On the rare occasion that I shuffle all my tunes, it's annoying to have to keep turning...- cmull

The Fiio X5 Thread
I agree about the OS. As I mentioned way back in this thread, I can't use the gapless playback feature because the X3 will freeze between tracks. The problem goes away when the gapless playback is turned off. Has anyone else had this issue? I hope the X5 doesn't do this, for I'm pretty certain...- cmull

The Fiio X5 Thread
Just wanted to report that my X3 has no noticeable mid-bass hump--that's headphone out or line out. Please refrain from trying to convince me otherwise. Continuing the discussion on here is really getting in the way of all of our drooling over the X5.- cmull

The Fiio X5 Thread
I'm in love with my X3, but I can't use the gapless playback because the unit stops playing between tracks much too often. I sure hope this gets fixed on the X5. A firmware update for the X3 that address this issue would be nice too.- cmull

My shure SE215's cable broke, replacement cables cost $40-$50 should I buy new iem's instead?
Thanks for the link. I think I'll try a new cable on my own set. Hey kulbirg, scratch my previous post. For $15, I'd just replace the cable on my Shure's.- cmull

My shure SE215's cable broke, replacement cables cost $40-$50 should I buy new iem's instead?
Where on the cable did they break? I have problem with the connection to my buds with my own SE215's. My left channel cuts out occasionally due to a bad connection. I'm just wondering about yours, because if the connectors are the problem I'd ditch the Shure's. However, if the actual cable...- cmull

Question regarding DAC and Soundcard.
I had a Nuforce Icon Ido as an external DAC for my ipad mini. Cost was $140. It did make the sound from my ipad clearer in my opinion. However, I returned it and got a Fiio X3 on sale for the same price. I'm much happier with the X3. But back to the ipod. I'm not sure how the sound is from the...- cmull

Shure se215 or Hifiman re-400?
That's a good point, but the joint where the cable and earbuds snap together is my problem. I believe if they were permanently connected, I wouldn't have the problem losing the left channel at all. A new cable might fix my issue, but I don't use them enough to buy one.- cmull

Shure se215 or Hifiman re-400?
Not sure I can help with a comparison, for I only have the Shure's. I like the sound (for in-ears) but my left channel cuts out occasionally. I have to snap the bud off, and wiggle it back in place. If that doesn't work, I re-bend the wire to put the connection in a new position. Also, don't...- cmull
