I had E10 with HE400s and it was more than enough and very good sounding too.

Just tried HE400s with my new 1+1 and...   I found sound quality equal to Modi + Vali combo, Schiit is maybe little bit clearer but I think I could not tell difference in ABX. 

Used Hifiman HE-400s. Highly recommend these for trance and of course everything else. But on the go use I would not recommend.

Not a big difference, I have tried both and own Vali/Modi. Probably you could not hear difference. E17s EQ is nice IMO.

I found out HE400s bright for first 10-20 hours. Then after (brain) burn in I noticed that treble spike has smoothed alot, sound has become much more darker. They are still very detailed and I dont experience any fatigue from highs. They are heavy but I got used to it very fast.

  I have Vali and I hear hiss only by covering cups with my hands. Very minor "issue" IMO and I hate hate hiss alot. With Superlux 668b and Soundmagic E30 IEMs hiss is unbearable.

I found HE400s with FiiO E10 more forward than with Modi + Vali but I prefer Schiit over FiiO anyday. So I think your source+amp makes your HE400 "distant".

Yeah, I hope you didn't pay your order already. I recommend ordering straight from Schiit. I got my order in 4 days to Europe.

I tried velours too but I prefer pleathers. I didn't notice any sound difference and they are comfier.

I have tried E17 too. It is also very nice pairing, set bass at 10 = 

I can confirm that Modi + Vali is nice combo. Only cons I find are microphonics even I move a cable and hiss which I can hear only by covering cups with my hands. 

  Is this normal, usb cable sticks out a bit from Modi usb connector? It works fine but looks weird.

New happy Schiit Modi+Vali owner here. Sounds fantastic with my HE400s. I was wondering is my Modi detecting right in W7? With FiiO E10 I got to select which sampling rates are supported and there was no enchanments tab also...           .

Someone please? If Vali has even little hiss on reasonable volumes, I'm going to get Magni or O2. I can get modi/magni but I requires ordering from USA to Europe... Electromod shipping price to my location is 35 pounds.

I'm going to upgrade my E10. From what I have searched I found that ODAC + Schiit Vali would be nice combo? Can't get modi and Vali is second hand. Also is Vali dead quiet with HE400? I mean noise floor.

I could get HE400s for 270 euros new. Will E10 do well enough with these phones? I see 700 mW-1000 mW output power recommendations and E10 can do only 150 mW...

After all I was not but I think it all because crap GS2 headphone jack.

I tried HE400s today. I wasn't pretty impressed but I plugged them to my GS2 which has 49 ohms output impedance... Still my 70ohm HFI2400s sound kinda ok from GS2. I wish I could try them with better amp before buying...   Also I had EQ enabled in GS2 because for my IEMs and HE400 bass...

I am interested about these phones. I was going to try them in my local store but I want to make sure that they sell newest revisions. I know color of driver tells revision but can you easily see drivers without taking them apart? Also would you run these with FiiO E10?Disembling
